I just picked up a set of 1 chamber flowmasters for $50.. Anyone have a soundclips.. I wanna know how loud these are going to be.. I know loud.. Just wanna know If I should do full exhaust with these or side exit.
I personally am not familliar with the sound, but I am having a hard time believing that it could possibly be louder than my old school glasspaks that I still choose to run (much to my neighborhoods dismay ). I find generally that any system is only really loud at hard acceleration or WOT, but not when cruising, so I am not sure why the highway would be any more of a problem for you than it is for me, which is little.
HAHA.. Just drove in my friends 93 cobra.. yeah not going to go with one chambers My ears are still ringin...Pretty much same motor as whats going in my 66 but has brodix heads and a procharger.. I am seriously deaf....
Dont think my neighbors would like it when I leave for work at 12 am
I ran a 1 chamber Flow Master for several years on the race car. Yes, I am one of the people that believes a little back pressure is good.
Anyway, my experience was that the faster you go the "quieter" they become and at full throttle they actually sound like a "super charger" with a high pitch sound.
I would also like to add that on a stock engine, they are nice: the more power a given engine makes, the louder it will be using the same exhaust. My 67 with glasspacks isn't noticeable at all at idle or mild throttle but has a nice growl when you get on it. It is completely stock, (until spring!). After my mods, I might reconsider those things.
I've got them on my 67 with a full exhaust, and it's not that bad around town or on the highway. You will recive some strange looks from the cops and little old ladys. I say go for it.
