I have an 8.8 mustang rear end with the quad shock setup. It is
setup now with the 4 lug axles and drum brakes. What Do I need
to convert this to disc brakes and 5 lug axles. I would like to keep
it stock ford stuff if possible.
Thanks:hail2: :hail2:

The reason for the change is that I built a 450 horse 351w and I am changing all the suspension and drive train. I need the axles cause I only have a 7.5
single legger w/ 3:08 gears. I don'y feel that yhe 7.5 is strong enough
and I figured that if it was going to go fast i'd like discs on all four corners
to make it stop fast also. Got all saleen parts for the suspension right now.

PS> I would be interested in the axles when you get them out?

Thats cool, but they will not fit in a 7.5 rearend, you will need a 8.8 which you will need anyways because 7.5 rear's are junk. My car used to have one, and so did everyother one of my friends cars that had the 83-85 years. They all blew up with not much power. :nice: But I will let you know when I pull my axles.

I have the 8.8 rear end with the 3:27 gears, it's complete but has the 4 lug axles now. Thats why I need your axles. I guess I'll wait to install the rear end till
I find some 8.8 axles.

5 lugs are great and also gives you more of a wheel selection. But why not just get some moser or strange 4 lug axles? If your looking for strenth then there the same strenth with aftermarket ones wether it's 4 or 5 lug. Atleast i beleive? STOCK 5 lugs will break just as easy as STOCK 4 lugs will. The guy that built my car busted stock 4 lugs and replaced them with 28 spline 4 lug moser's, i and him run slicks with no problems, if it were me then i'd step up to 31 spline's. peace

John that is a good idea but it depends on the guy's budget and when is the power going to come. I am doing the 31 spline axles with c-clip eliminators and you also have to do the rear. It's going to cost me over a grand. So right now a cheap set of axles to get his 5-lug started is not to bad. :nice:

I have a set of set of '95 axles 28 spline with caliper brackets as well as a trac loc to match that i think should work and could break off wicked cheap. They are getting dusty with no purpose. They are out of John's crusher car. It would put you out 0.75" on each side. You obviously would need a brake set up for a '95. It would get you by though. Also, Richard Oben at North Race cars (northracecars.com i think) has a set of caliper brackets that allow use of fox length axles - moser makes 31 spline heavy duty 5-lug. This combo lets you keep your original axle length and use a better disc (11.56"?) brake set up. Gets spendy though like John says.

what I need is the Axles, Disc brake assembly, Calipers, Brackets, Backing plates, etc.. I already have the Trac loc 8.8. I am interested in the parts you have, if
you want to part with them. Thanks

Good point ! but why not just go and get aftermarket axles for around $250 in fox 4 lug 28 spline and call it good instead of buying stock 5 lug then breaking them and be back to square one? Check this out halffast there will be a $9.95 shipping charge as well. http://store.summitracing.com/partd...400256+4294851288+4294908331+115&autoview=sku peace
