i removed all this wiring, and my Stang still runs

I swapped the stock type alternator for a one wire 100amp Powermaster.
Ditched the external voltage regulator and the remnants of the PO's alarm system, which included a Bosch style 30/40 relay, a 'hood open' relay, a hazard light relay, and a sorry excuse for the alarm's main harness.
At one point, me and a buddy of mine had no idea what we were doing when we had the Mustang's main harness draped over the front of the car, just one thing lead to another, and in the same fashion it got back together.
The only thing I had to do before hand was to remove the serpatine pulley for a v-belt pulley that was included.
And I went to a local super-electronic supply store for 8 gauge wire and terminals for the '1 wire' alternator feed. they were nice enough to crimp the terminals on for me since I don't have the crimpers for large gauge wires.

BTW. I was thinkg of doing the same thing. I thought there was some splicing necessary based on another post I read a while back. Except for the feeds from the altenator and starter relay, what wires feed into the voltage regulator?

Also, where did you pick up your alternator and how much did you pay?

I think the big thing to look out for if you are running the stock gauges is the only big gauge wire leading into the main harness. On 67 I know it's yellow, this goes to the ammeter. I don't have the stock gauges, so it didn't concern.
It's actually really simple, just takes time. and have your year's wiring diagram handy.
I ordered mine at Summit for like 130 bucks. They also have polished and chromed available.

OK. Simple enough. I don't have a wiring diagram handy but I could have sworn I gave one to my dad years ago. Now that his car is in my garage, I'm sure he wouldn't mind coughing it up.

update:
Alternator charges when it wants to. not depended on rpm's. called powermaster, they were really nice and told me to contact my vendor to exchange it.
No big deal, mistakes happen...not unpleasent until I called to exchange it.
They made into a mess. It's all sorted out now, but it got me going the wrong way this Monday morning.
I don't have any bad feelings about Powermaster, the tech was helpful and friendly.
And excanges like this aren't un-common for me. I've swapped out defective new parts via mail order before.
