Ok, I finally got my 85 gt started this morning, however, the car will shut off unless I keep the key turned all the way back. Do I have a short somewhere? Also, a lot of smoke comes out of the exhaust. Now this is the first time the car has ran in about a year, so will it go away, or do I have another problem?
I think I have an ignition problem!

The ignition switch is problably worn out & needs replacement.
I wouldn't worry with the smoke unless it doesn't go away after running the car for an hour or so.
Before you do an extended run, check the coolant and oil levels to make sure that there isn't any coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant.
