i've been researching all at work (im bored to hell)

im rich in bank 2 and not sure why. everything else was replaced. i made plenty of whiney threads about this already

i've been hearing a sucking sound when i shut off the car.

my guess is a bad egr valve. if it's not closing all the way on the pintle, it's going to read rich in bank 2 (the bank the metal tube attaches to) because not enough oxygen is going to the sensor. that also might explain the hissing noise when i shut down the car, it's a vacume leak.

this makes so much sense....but how much does a new EGR cost?

think this might be it?

just delete it or block it off then get a chip or something to turn that code off. it's not like the egr does all that much, all it does is recycle stuff through the engine, giving you slightly better gas milage. i bought a egrdelete off of randy stichcomb (sp?) over on MD for liek 15 bux or something like that

The EGR shouldn't be too expensive. I would just replace it. It doesn't adversely effect performance anyway. BTW, the EGR's one and only function is to reduce Nitrogen Oxide emissions (a component of smog), and it only operates at cruising speeds when commanded to do so by the PCM (EEC-V).

Just reread the original thread and found that I missed something. A leaking EGR gasket/ faulty EGR isn't likely to result in one lean bank. A faulty EGR will cause rough idle and hesitation on acceleration. While a leaky EGR gasket could result in this code, it is not likely. If you are hearing a hissing sound on one side of the engine look for vacuum leaks (intake manifold gasket/ or cracks in the plastic manifold itself), exhaust manifold gasket leaks, or exhaust system leaks. Beware, though, if this is the factory GT PLASTIC lower manifold this hissing sound may be normal.
