My buddy's 15yr old brother got som inheritance money and he decided to buy a car. This is what he is buying. http://portland.craigslist.org/car/160938574.html
It's a sweet car but good god, I give him 6 months before he is in the hospital.

My future children will have a F350 4x4 for a first car if I have anything to say about it.

The hospital seems like a "best case" scenario to me. Lets hope he stays alive.

Way too much car for a 15 year old.

Classic case of another dead snake. To much car for alot of people forget about a 15 year old. Maybe he will be the odd ball and respect what he has and drive it accordingly, doubtful.

yeah my brother is next in line for that car if that deal falls through. We were just about to go look at it this weekend, and he's just about to turn 17 too. He posts on here sometimes and will be pissed when he sees this thread lol.

He was going to completely rebuild it since it has the low compression in one cylinder and it could just use it anyways. Anyone else think its weird he has no fuel upgrades???? i wanted my brother to get it so I could steal it a few times!

That's scary. Just keep me posted of his every move because I do NOT want to be in his line of fire when if he messes up. I hope he can respect the car... but statistically it doesn't stand a chance.

the comp isn't that bad. its 170. the rest are 200 plus. I drove it. the thing hauls ass. I grabbed a gear at 70 and it lit 'em up. overall the car is in great condition. i think its a steal. I test drove the thing or my friend because he lives in roseburg, but now his bro is gonna buy it. I told him to just unhook the IMRC controller and let it run on 1 intake valve

yeah the guy who had it seems like a good guy and from what I took away from it was he took pretty good care of it. Still has relatively low miles and at that price is definately a steal. Hopefully that kid takes care of it and if he does mess it up I hope its the rear end cause I really want that hood and front bumper.

Oh boy, do you blame the kid for wanting this? He has about 300 mustang muscle heads he looks up to in this forum. I don't blame him at all. At 15, with money burning a hole in our pockets, how many of us would want anything else? I would rather see him in this any day than a 1980's camaro. What was GM thinking. Go for it, have fun, be safe, and welcome to the club. Great price for a little piece of SVT performance.

I deffinately agree about the driving course, or taking it to the track to get used to it. Encourage him to not push it on the street.

Also who are you kidding..."keep it out of the rain"? Remember where you guys are. Unless your in eastern washington...it rains ALOT. Just be careful.

The only bad part about that is when they do wreck. They will take someone with them.

Imo, the best first car is a volvo station wagon.

True Dat. I had a suburban.

I told him the best thing I ever did was Autocrossing, and I suggested it to his brother right off the bat. It teaches how to overcome the instictive "stand on the brake" reaction that only makes things worse.

Well, he bought it and just got it dynoed.

Get this.

423.9 RWHP. Given 15% parasitic loss, that works out to 500 Flywheel HP.

Unless OR laws regarding driver licensing differ considerably from WA, he's not old enough yet to drive the car (legally, anyway). And he doesn't actually own the car - Mom, Dad, or the equivalent does. Hopefully, either: a) Junior has enough sense to drive the car carefully after getting his license (I wouldn't have), or b) Mom and or Dad have enough sense to keep the keys.

Edit: why would anyone allow their 15 yr-old kid to get a car with that kind of power, anyway? [confused smiley]. Any insight into the mindset of the parents?

$20 says the car gets wrapped around a telephone pole, or involved in a differently categorized traffic accident.
