I was hearing that they fixed the defect causing them to burn out early, so i bought a Silverstar fog when one of my ricer lights burned out last month.

Today i noticed it's burned out again. No shattered glass, no moisture in fog light, just a busted filament inside.

1 month!!! That's what my original pair i bought 2 years ago lasted.

Odd thing is my headlights are silverstars, and they have been in my car for 2.5 years now with no problems at all. My other fog light is some ricer white light that matched the silverstars and i went 2 years before 1 burned out. I pop a silverstar in...and it lasts 1 month

I'm ordering the same ricer lights. They were whiter and brighter than the silverstars and matched the headlights perfectly $10/pair too and they lasted 2 years

Maybe you got some old product? Where did you get them? They must be under warranty or something... Did you get the 893s?

Did you touch the bulb with oily/greasy fingers when you installed it?

893ST's

I bought em from Autozone about a month ago. Fresh packaging.

No i didn't touch them with my fingers. I was careful for the install.

When i bought my last pair two years ago. I sent them to sylvania and got my money back. Gonna try the same here

Maybe the 893s are different somehow from the 899s and they really just do not work in Mustangs...

I wonder what the exact technical difference is between 893 and 899.

Nothing according to sylvania.

They don't make an 899, just an 893ST and 880ST

The 880's are a lower wattage i beleive, but the 893's are the same 37.5 watts as the stock 899's

I can only vouch for their fog lights. They advertise them as blue, but they are really just bright and white. They match the silverstar headlights perfectly.

I got mine off EBay. I think i got them for $15 for the fog lights and a pair of 9007 headlight bulbs.

The headlight bulbs SUCK. They really are blue and you can't see crap. Just get the fogs.

The 893 and 899 are the same exact wattage, same base, etc. In the non silverstar form, the 893 puts out more light than the 899. Sylvania probably decided it wasn't worth having two different Silver Star bulbs that can be used in the same applications, so they just went with the 893, which can be used wherever an 899 is used.

Call Sylvania product service, tell them what happened. They'll probably send you coupons to use for replacing the light.
