I used to have one living under the upper plenum of my 95 until I started it one day. It tried to escape through my driver's side wheel and got smashed between one of the spokes and the caliper. SOB was chewing on my injector wires.

"Rat bites may be contaminated with Streptobacillus moniliformis or Spirillum minus. S. moniliformis is most common in the US. These infections may lead to Rat Bite Fever. Symptoms of Rat Bite Fever may appear as much as 10 days after the bite, and are likely to happen after the wound itself is already healed. Watch for:

* Fever
* Headache
* Vomiting
* Pain in the back and joints.

2 to 4 days after the onset of fever, a rash may occur on the hands and feet, and one or more large joints may become swollen, red, and painful.

If the victim exhibits any of these symptoms, see a doctor immediately."

are you kidding? You're not going to the doctor?

Rats can carry a wide variety of diseases, while not common, they do include rabies. Get checked, and set some traps under your car.

While I agree with your sentiments about ERs, this is probably not something to **** around with...

I'd have made an exception in this case.

Hopefully it all checks out, regardless.

I hate rodents.

you live in texas, got a rat bite, and youre NOT going to the doctor?

search Wikipedia for the Boubonic Plague

you should be more concerned about your health than you are currently.

After you get some medical treatment, set a trap for that SOB. Rats can't resist peanut butter. Bait the trap with it. Then pull an Ozzy Osbourne on the bastard!!
