It depends on what your doing with the car. I have the crane2031, I love it and it sounds pretty mean for a mild cam. I have a few tuning problems though.

well, that shouldn't be your basis for buying a cam

crane 2031 sounds awesome and is pretty good on our cars w/ the right setup, whitedevil has that setup if you can find his vid... i'm not sure why it's not on my website

Well, I installed a mild lunati cam (51014), 218/.500 (intake) and 226/.510 (exhaust), lobe separation is 112 and is design for 2000 or 2500 to 6500 rpms. From my research our cars need a lobe separation from 112-116 to get good idle qualities. The lift matches the flow rate of my AFR 165s and the rpm range of the Edelbrock Rpms. The cam has good sound and torque characteristics with a damn good lump. If sounds is all you want I've read that the B303 will give you that but I've also read that is all it gives you other that tuning issues - it has a lobe separation of 110. Neighbors now when I'm coming and going. You will have idle issues but with patients and some fine tuning (get a multimeter) you may get it right. I plan to purchase the Tweecer but at this time I do not have a home computer, better yet a decent home computer, that can handle the requirements of the Tweecer. I know, I know I need to get up to speed with technology. But I've been out of the Mustang business for 4-1/2 years, which is when I wrecked my 95 Cobra. I rebuilt the car and now ready to have some fun. Peace

At this point with your mods you will most likely go slower with a cam. your puny stock heads and their stock valve springs will get pulvarized. Plus you are an auto and need a tuner to raise shift to take advantage of the minute gain u might get with a cam. Just wait, its not worth it at this point.

I guess you didnt read the first part of the thread. Well this is what it said"IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO WITH THE CAR". I dont think that he would lose anything w/the 2031, not to say he would gain anything either. If it did anything to my car it helped with torque and midrange. Also I didnt hear him say anything about performance, I think it was sound that he was looking for.

Sorry, thought that you were talking to me. I reread post and discovered that i am and idiot. Ive been on corral.net way to long, it makes you defensive. Sorry again Dan

Saying you want a cam just to sound mean is like those import guys that buy those stupid turbonator things they put in their exhaust to make it sound like they turbo IMHO. I'd say get heads and intake or a power adder (I got my NOS kit off ebay for $250) before worring about a cam that sounds mean and gives you little to no power gain but then again I'm usually more worried about going fast than just sounding like it.

I would agree w/everyone that saying cam may not be your best choice, but if you want an opinion I like the lunati 51014, most people who have heard my car likes the way it sounds.

Im running too much of a cam. It's kinda annoying. I have my idle at 1050 just to ensure it stays alive. If im idling and i turn the wheel too far, itll shut off from the powersteering pump. hahaha.

My specs are 234/.549 intake, 229/.529 exhaust with 115 lsa.

If you wanna sound mean at idle

Two simple steps that are way easier than a cam change

1) Pull one of your plug wires off

2) Pull one of your vacuum hoses off

Instant lope at idle

LMAO

Nice one final5-0. Seriously, a cam is a PITA change while the motor is in the vehicle. Don't worry about a cam until you have got an intake, heads, and exhaust that will benefit from it.

Have you considered a T C with a higher stall?

I hear they make a world of diff on an auto.

If you do a higher stall converter, you probably want to do a TransGo shift kit as well. Full throttle shifts and will hold in any gear.

Is that one of Ed's cams? That sure sounds bass-ackwards if it is.

Grady - I was screwing around with a bud's 88 LX a few months back and it was idling waayyyy weird after we were done. The thing sounded like it had a 240 @ .050" cam in it.

...come to find out it was the MAP sensor unplugged.

Oh, BTW, get ready. The car is going to come off the jackstands and the Tweec-ing will begin - with about 9 million questions along with it. LOL
