In my area, you get funny looks if you try to order regular tea. In fact, I don't think a restaurant would last around here if they didn't serve decent sweet tea.
Sweet tea is not taking regular tea and adding a pack of sugar.
OT .... I have a weird question then. Do any of the restaurants in your area serve it sweet? Even fast food joints. You can't get it unsweet here unless you ask for it that way. McDonalds even does it .... but it's so sweet, it's like drinking molasses.
that is why we call it the sweet tea line. if you order an ice tea here it will be unsweet, it took some time to adjust when i first lived in NC when you order ice tea it is default sweet.
I don't know of a Mcdonalds around here that serves sweet tea.
