hey i have 87 5.0 mustang gt, i have 1 5/8 2 1/2 hedman shorties, with mac h-pipe, flowmaster delta 40 serious, with 3 1/2" pipe, but i want louder exhaust i don't wanna buy all new exhaust but i wanna sound like i got something big under my hood.

I recently changed my exhaust to a MAC exhaust system, 1 5/8's unequal length shortie headers, off-road h-pipe, and MAC pro dumps all 2 1/2". Alot of people like the sound of the new flowmaster super 40's. As long as you get rid of your cats and dont use cheap exhaust stuff, then your exhaust will sound good.

If you guys seriously want a LOUD exhaust that doesnt sound like a POS pickup truck, here's the trick. Get yourself a typical offroad H pipe, and your typical 2 chamber Flowmasters. Take the flows, and cut the back half off, up to the back plate of the first chamber...if you've ever seen a cross section of a flowmaster then that'll make sense. You're basically creating home made single chamber Flowmasters. You won't need dumps since the back of the muffler is pretty much open. It'll be loud like a racecar, but retain that deep growl that Flowmasters are good for. If you want a more raspy, rippy sound, use an X pipe instead of H pipe. Fair warning though, the police arent real big on this setup...it's best for track only cars.

If you can't be fast, be loud! I hear it all the time, stock cars with exaust, they just sound like that.

Higher output motors, especailly a higher compression motor with high flow heads, and a nasty cam will be louder with the same exaust, and there will be no doubt which is the meaner car just by the sound, because they will not sound anything alike.
