Saw an Audi RS4 driving from work today and the exhaust notes was sublime. Just driving around casually, it sounded subtle but really mean and deep, you can kind of feel it. It seemed to have factory exhaust. Is there a setup that comes close to this for our cars? I want to put something together that doesn't sound like just another mustang. I have flows now and they just drone, they kind of suck. A lot of other setups I see that don't drone, are just tinny and sound unrefined.

Here's a crappy video that sort a sounds like the RS4 I saw (skip to 1:20)

like this?

I would guess an off road x pipe and bassani mufflers would be somewhat

Sort of like that, but that guy is running aftermarket stuff so it's a bit raspy sounding.

Also, does anyone know of any tricks to sealing up all the exhaust joints?

cut the flanges and weld.
The RS4 is a turbo 6 so its just going to sound different than a v8 mustang.

The 2006+ models are an N/A 4.2L V8 with direct injection. Though they also rev to 8k rpm It still doesn't change the fact that the low rpm thump of their exhaust is SOOO nice.

That sounds just like the 2011 5.0, another high reving/high compression/4V v8. You just need a crate motor swap to get that sound. Check out some of the youtube videos for the 2011 Mustang GT.

Speaking of which, those crate motors look like a really good deal. $6300 for a solid 400hp engine??? I wonder what the PCM, harness, bellhousing etc would run though.

I got something going in my 95 GT that sounds similar.

A 99 Viper V10. Its been stroked. So its about 502CI.

Thats about $10K swap as well. LOL

Should sound wicked with full exhaust and an H pipe

IIRC that engine is derived from Audi's ownership of Lamborghini...

The viper swap has been done.

I'd rather just run a stroked 351w or a big bore dart...and then you won't have that weak v10 exhaust note!
