I'm thinkin SLP Loudmouth for the catback.

For the midpipe, I know h-pipes are louder than x-pipes, but not sure which brand is the loudest. Any advice?

From what i've been reading lately.... Lt's with x pipe and 10 series or 40 series flowmasters.

Open headers straight up out of the hood. That's about the loudest you can get.

Or you could go ask on a Honda forum. Those guys are pros at obnoxiously loud exhaust. If they can make 4 cylinders sound that loud, imagine what they could do to a V8.

Also, make sure you remove one spark plug wire to give it a lopey idle.

That's actually exactly what I have now....BBK l/t's into a dr. gas o/r x-pipe into a flowmaster american thunder catback. Definitely not as loud as some of the stangs I hear drivin by.

doing a little more research...apparently x-pipes and h-pipes are comparable in loudness and if anything x-pipes may be a little bit louder??

I'd love to keep the x-pipe on the car and just switch cat-backs! saves me mega $$.

Perhaps these other loud stangs have a little more work done under the hood?!? I know my current exhaust setup (LT's O/R H, 40 series flows) would be a heck of a lot louder on a blown 331 and a heck of a lot quieter on a stock HCI 302. If you are already running LT's and an O/R X, then the only other thing you can do is change from a chambered muff to a straight through resonator. My brother runs SLP race resonators, and his car with just the muffs, stock H pipe with 2 cats cut out, is almost louder than my combo....sounds nasty at WOT. I will probably make the swap to SLP, Magnapacks, or race bullets pretty soon too.

Get some SLPs, toss on some dumps and for $200-300 you have a very loud set up.

Yes you are. My friend has that exact set up on his HCI 302. My car runs LTs, OR X, into dumped Spintechs and it is loud, but his trumps mine. Now whether or not it sounds good or just loud, thats opinion, but it will be about as loud as you can get with some kind of "muffler".

Hell yeah just route individual straight pipes right up from each exhaust port straight up through the hood. It doesn't get any more rock-n-roll than that

Yeah engine mods will make a lot of difference. I have a 93 Cobra with stock GT40 heads/intake/cam with FRPP shorties, pro chambers, and Mac mufflers and it sounds a lot meaner on my car than a guy I know with the same setup except he has Mac long tubes and E7 stock heads/cam/intake. It is actually a very large difference in sound, and I am sure cubic inches would also make a huge difference.

Yeah, i had a friend who had the exact same exhaust setup as me from the headers back (all MAC, full lengths, pro chamber, flowpath cat-back) except my car was mostly stock and his was a blown 408...the two cars didn't sound anything alike.

Shorties, H-pipe, and SLP catback. Shorties are louder than long tubes. Open headers is the loudest, but that is just loud, not nice loud!!!

I dont know if its true, but from what I've heard is that short tube headers make your car sound a little louder down low as well as the h-pipe. And LT headers and an off-road x make it scream up top. Not really sure I have a short burnout clip on my sig of how mine sounds like.

That's my experience....most people think full lengths equal louder, but not really. They equalize the exhaust pulses which can actually quiet down the exhaust note...again, just as my above post where a friend had the same exhaust setup as me, another friend used to have the mufflers that are on my car right now, but he ran shorties with them and they were louder on his car.

If i had to say what i think would be loudest, on a mostly STOCK car, i'd say shorties, an X pipe and some kind of resonator mufflers like SLP LM's or Race Bullets or even 1 chamber Flowmasters are pretty damn loud, all of them would be dumped. Also a trick if you wanna make things even louder, when you go to put dumps on the back of your mufflers, have them welded or clamp them on pointing towards the sides of the car.

My borla XS mufflers (just about the quietest muffler you can buy) with my hci was louder than most peoples flowmaster cars, before the hci most people didnt even know I had exhaust done even without cats. Engine mods make just about as big of a difference in exhaust volume and quality as changing exhaust setups.

Not that I have the loudest setup but I can say that an HCI combo makes a HUGE difference in volume. Im running a ported GT40 setup with an ecam, shortie headers, o/r H, and a magnaflow catback and it is significantly louder than my buddies setup with an Novi 1000, cobra intake, stock E7's, shorties, o/r X, and a mac catback. I would have figured it would be comparible with his supercharger and my GT40 irons (ported) but its not, not even close.
