But it dosnt work with a Mustang with a MAF. What the heck is a MAF? Dose my stock 88 GT have one? Where is it, and how do I make it work with this air intake? Thanks

MAF is a sensor... Mass Airflow Sensor. You shouldn't have one. Easy way to check is look at your current intake setup (the tuping going to the upper intake manifold) and look for a sensor going to part of it.

You dont want it....Trust Me. I don't know why they call those a "Cold Air Intake" It's actually a short ram intake... all it does is sit in your engine bay and suck in hot air. The right side header is right below it!! The factory setup pull's in cooler air then those. The best induction set up's to buy are the one's that place the filter out of the engine bay and inside the fender well....that's a true cold air intake. They may be a bit more money but will actually do your engine good in term's of efficiency and performance. The short ram intake's will rob you of power and increase the chances of detonation due to the excesive hot air. Don't waste your money...Check out company's like MAC, BBK etc. etc. they make some fairly decent Cold air intake's at an affordable price. Good Luck!!

Yeah, if you're going to buy any kind, get one that sucks the air from inside the fender well. But even then, just buy it for looks. You'll likely only pick up a single horsepower from using one on a stock or mildly modified engine.

Now I know the car was driven from Cali, but I dont know how long it was there. Basicaly, what do I need to do to get this cold air intake. IF I have MAF, can I get rid of it? Is it taking HP? And someone made a good point, I think with my longtube headers on there, Id just be sucking tons of hot air. A intake that goes into my fender is a great idea. But how dose that suck in air being in the fender well? Thanks fellas

The stock airbox is a cold air intake. If your going for performance just drop in a K&N panel Filter. On the other hand, if you want a nice shiny chrome intake tube get a fenderwell intake. Instead of the cone filter being right next to the alternator it is located in the fender, shielded from the heat.

I have a K&N filter already. I wanted the cone one that is sticking out cause I thought it was more "sporty" looking. But, Ive seen the ones that go in the fender and thats what I think I'll end up getting now considering the heat.

Sweet dude. That intake really gives it a cleaner look. But I still dont know if I can get it. Do that make ones that work with MAF? Still dont know if my car has it or not LOL.. Man I feel like a moron not knowing about a Mass air flow sensor.

That device between the two chrome tubes is the MAF. From the two pictures you posted your car has one. BBK and MAC make intakes for MAF cars. www.macperformance.com
