I test drove an ls1 camero at a used car dealer, and yawned all the way. I was thoroughly unimpressed. That was before I had my Mustang, and had only my Grand Prix GTP to compare to.
Hey, someone mentioned the poster should get AFR 185s. Will those fit with a stock block, or will there be piston valve clearance issues?
Did you buy a fully built 347 that you dropped in, or did you build your own?
Im looking in the next 2 years to sell the Vortech, and use that money to buy a 347 Longblock (since I have stock heads). I know they run $5+K for the ready-to-drop in DSS and others.
Howdy, built it myself, however if I had to do it all over again I would have just bought a long block from CHP or DSS and be done with it. The length of time it took me I could have put three in if I had bought a complete set up.
You can find them a little cheaper than 5K I bet. Just takes some looking around. If you really wanted to get radical just put a 393 between the fenders. Not much more money but you would have one beast of a car.
I was talking with a local engine builder here, and he told me it would cost about $3000 for a 347 Short block. I have found some in the ford mags for around 2k. He also told me that if I put on a SC, my engine will be crap in 10k miles..

on that supercharger comment. I've been researching superchargers lately, and as long as you don't run obscene amounts of boost, like 12+, and you get it tuned decent, then it will be fine. I'm only gonna be running 6 lbs for a while, and everyone was saying that would be NO problem.
EDIT: Just noticed I resurrected this thread. pwc, did you ever decide what you were gonna go with?
