Friday I get the pressure washer, spend several hours under the car blowing off undercoating and getting it cleaned up so I could paint it later.......a few of you guys may already see this one coming

Saturday I get up and primer the entire bottom of the car and painted the rear end ford blue, a few more guys may see this coming.....

Sunday, I tried to move car from driveway and discover both front brakes are froze solid, rusted the brakes to the drum.....

Monday, I used WD-40 on the brakes and I`m hoping they`ll bust off in a few more days....

Tuesday, brakes are lose, but I geuss when I painted the rear end I should have taped off where the yoke thing goes into the rear end cause it wont turn either. Actually it might be where the hubs fit onto it too, I`ll know more later.

Who would have ever thought this kinda stuff would happen just trying to get some paint on.........LMAO

You think that's hard ? Try setting trailer brakes in mid winter after running thru snow and slush, parking in ankle deep snow, then after eating, coming back out to find all eight (two shoes per wheel) frozen solid to the drums. Only made that mistake once. Took two hours with a sledge hammer to get em free. (layin in the snow) Next time just beat on the drums with a hammer. Rust is easy.

I used to drive a truck, and yes that has happened to me, unfortunately it never crossed my mind about the brakes rusting in the hubs. And the motor is the dark ford blue so I am painting the entire drivetrain ford blue too, thought it might look kinda cool like that.

No pics yet though, I got to get this thing out of my driveway somehow first....

it is a soft form of frozen water. you can sometimes find it in northern cal, around lake tahoe in the winter, even on rare occasion here in tucson, az.

I wish it would snow here

its like 102 outside, i just spent about 20 minutes busting the last brake loose, and I am soaked to the bone.

If anyone wts to know, there is a simple way of busting these loose, trust me I`ve done it 3 times in 2 days. Put tension on the car by pulling it with something (I used my 4 wheeler with the parking brake set cause I was by myself) , beat on the brake drum, if it dont bust loose then, pull the car in the opposite direction, and it should bust loose.

Yeah, I was in Tucson, oh maybe 15 years ago, the only time in recorded history that it snowed in town on Christmas day. Pretty cool throwing snowballs around 22nd street.

You think Snow in Tucsan is strange? back in 1992, I ran into a full blown blizzard in Gulfport Mississippi in April that year. Best thing about it was it was all gone an hour after it stopped................. Seen Snow in Cameron La. too, back in the 80's.

Uh, you know that WD 40 on the brakes shoes ruined them and now you need to tear into your brake drums before driving, don't ypu?

It makes sense though. But I`m changing the front to disc anyway, got a good set of used granada stuff off another guys car last week for $250. The back brakes need replaced anyway.

I loved Christmas '86 in Tucson; snowed long enough to stay on the ground for almost two weeks out at our house. I've only seen snow once since then........

Stuck drums? After backing off on the star adjusters, a propane torch and a dead-blow BFH works wonders. DO NOT get the drums/backing plate super hot, unless you plan on changing the axle seals and brake cylinders. (yeah, the rubber melts...... I found out a long time ago
