Iac?????..........

i started a thread a few days ago about my RPMs dropping really low after down shifting... someone told me to clean my IAC. they never replied when i asked em what the heck that is. can any body tell me where to find the IAC?? what is the IAC??? and how do i clean it?? thanks.

The IAC (Idle Air Control) Valve is located at your intake plenum. It will have a small (1") line running to it from the cold air intake past the Mass Air. It has two bolts holding it on and has a silver/chrome cylinder about 1.5" diameter and about 3" long with one wire attached to it.

Oh, it controls your Idle by using a small motor controlled valve to feed air to the engine when the throttle body is closed.

I would say carburator cleaner. I am no expert mechanic but I have doubts that is what it is. Pull it off and look into it. It is simple and if it is that dirty it should be apparhent.

Good luck my man! :flag:

if not the IAC, what else do u think it could be?? It only does it when i press in the clutch after down shifting. the rpms drop down to 400 sometimes even 300. it has even died on me (i look really cool when that happens)... it doesnt do it if i just coast to a stop instead of downshifting. thanks! :bang:

I had the exact same problem with my 99GT and that is the biggest reason I sold it. My guess is, it is in your tune. Did it do this prior to the tune?? Are you sure this is the only mod??

Hopefully Uncle Meat and some of the more knowledgable guys will chime in.
