I did the IAC restrictor plate Saturday. I used the smaller of the 2 holes on the plate. Now I hear what sounds like a hissing sound coming from the IAC. I'm thinking its just trying to push air thru a small hole and that’s what’s causing the noise. I checked all my hoses and nothing is lose. Car runs fine and I noticed a small difference with the RPMs coming down faster with the plate on. So is the hissing noise normal with the plate installed?

I don't recall hearing any difference in it, though I have been running one since they first became popular quite some time ago.

I had a small leak where the IAC bolts into the plenum. While the car is running, run your fingers all around that area and see if does anything with the noise. I ended up using some RTV.

I didn't use the old gasket. I just used the restrictor plate (that’s what the directions said to do), may be that’s the issue.

my old car made a loud hissing sound when the hole on the restrictor plate was too small. Check for leaks like state above, but if the holes ARE too small, you will get a check engine light...

Nop not getting the check engine light but its hissing. I will try the bigger hole and see what happens.

I bought the one made out of gasket material off of ebay. The first time I put it on, I didn't have an inch/lb torque wrench available and I did hear a hiss (more of a whistle). I removed it and put some silicone sealant on my finger and kinda rubbed it in to the surface leaving absolutely no extra. Put it back on and torqued it to spec and it got much better. I think it's just pushin' air through a small hole and you're going to get some noise.

Take that plate out, it's not helping anything.

Yeah I didn't notice much of a difference with it. People say they notice more effects with the EGR restrictor plate so I guess I will try that this weekend.
