I've found a 1995 5.8 engine locally for sale. This should have a roller cam in it, right? If so how can I ID it from a non-roller engine? I've found that the block would be a F4TE. Would I be able to take a valve cover off and tell? I have never seen anything inside of a roller engine. If I am incorrect on any of my information so far please tell me so.

Any info appreciated

You would have to pull the intake and look at the lifters and valley. As far as I know, thats the only way to really tell. In theory, a '95 351W should be a roller.

Pull one valve cover and remove one pushrod, if the motor has a roller cam, the pushrod should be about 7.5" long. Non roller pushrods are about 8" long. F4TE casting is a roller block, even though the cam may not be though.

It will not have a roller camshaft in it but it is setup to accept the spider to hold the rollers.....
