Okay here is my problem. I just finished the TKO600 tranny swap into my 89 GT. While doing so I had to remove the long tubes, starter and ground straps of course. So while bolting the new tranny in I managed to pinch the "salt shakers" harness between the block and tranny. I have checked for any bare/shorted/nicked wires really good and dont see any. I noticed that my 02 harness was shot to heck and replaced it with a new one. So now I get it all bolted back together and fired up. WTF now I am idling 1800 to 2000 rpm. Before I had a farily steady idle at around 600-700rpm. I get a instant "check engine" light too. It had gotten late and didnt take time to pull the code but I will tomorrow evening. WTF do you guys think I have done? I check all the vacuum ports for any lines that may have been pulled loose but nothing. I fished the 10 pins out and checked them good. No melted wiring or shorts to be noticed. The blue/white IAC wire isnt shorting out to any of the other wires in the harness either. To make sure I am correct the blue/white wire is the computer controlled ground correct??? I tried a new IAC that I had and still same results. With the IAC disconnected I surge from 600 to about 1500 Up and down. Disconnected the 10 pins and started cleaning them. Tomorrow I will reassemble everything again and fire her and see if she still shows her a$$. If she does I will pull the codes and see what they say. I am really stumped here.
From what I can read the white connection shouldn't have any affect on the idle and those were the pinched wiring. Now like I said all the wires that were pinched appear to be solid still with no bar copper showing or carbon scoring from shorting.
