LOL! Sorry, I should have said 'the person who tuned your car' rather than tuner. No, a 'regular' XCal does not give access to the dashpot stuff. It is available in the ProRacer program (Advantage IV). Contact your tuner (the person) and ask him to tweak your file. Those are some big cams so it might take one or two or three "tunes by e-mail" to get it sorted out. Now, if you have some spare cash, you could get the ProRacer program.... (it's great, imo).

i have the xcalibrator 2,it says its a strategy flash..i dont know much about these damn tuners..lol. the model # is 9415A if that helps...is this a decent tuner? i know it's a few years old b/c the guy that bought it new2 or 3 years ago and it has been through 3 more people since.since i added the headers and typhoon intake it doesnt seem like it pulls as hard as it did b4 with just the cams??? thanks alot for the info and helpky_kneedragger:
OK, I figured with those cams that you had some sort of tune in it. I am surprised that it will idle with the stock tune. Good choice with MD, imo. Check out sctflash.com and look at the XCal2 and XCal3 and the ProRacer Package (Advantage IV). MD will probably set you up with an XCal2 or 3 and a dyno tune. If you intend to get the PRP then tell MD and they will probably give you the tune file (it can't be pulled off the flasher). The PRP will let you tweak the drivability items. There are quite a few things to adjust (my experience) with cams and you have some much heftier cams than mine.
If you get a 'regular' XCal2 with some tunes provided by MD, they can program in things like idle speed, global spark, gears/tire sizes, speed limiter, etc. I don't use this feature so I don't remember all the parameters. A/F is not one so if you want to do this, you'll need a wideband and PRP.
For datalogging, you need a USB cable, available at most electronic stores. One plug is "sort of square" and the other is the usual rectangular USB plug. I can't recall if the PRP comes with a cable.

the guy who bout my tuner didnt even use it,and the guy b4 him just used it to change gear ratio and rev limiter.so its all stock!! i keep gettin dtc codes on my car and it's saying i have cylinder misfire on 2,3,4,and now 8...and system lean on bank 1..i cant feel any mis in the car when i drive it.i want to take it for a good dyno tune at M.D.but i'd like to get it running better to get it there...like i said b4 it dont pull as hard as it did b4 i added L/t's and a typhoon intake. i change the plugs and it still keeps throwing the same damn codes>...any idea why it keeps gettin the misfire codes and the lean code?ky_kneedragger:
The 9415 SF has "standard" tunes loaded in from SCT and sold by an SCT dealer. There are limited adjustments available. See 'sctflash.com' for the X3 SF tuner (it is the successor to the X2 SF). You can read and clear DTC codes and datalog with the 9415 to a laptop, too.
The 9415 can be "changed" to the 9400 by a firmware change. This is a one-way change and you'll wipe out the original tunes (there's no way to save them)!! The 9400 is used for custom tunes. The Mustang owner provides a list of modifications and his/her SCT dealer who works up a tune specifically for the listed modifications (like cams, LT's, a supercharger!, etc.). The 9400 can be used to hold a dyno tune, too. Three tunes can fit into the 9400. The 9400 is what is used with the ProRacer package. And I should correct my previous post to say it is "Advantage III" not "Advantage IV". I was thinking about LiveLink IV, the SCT datalogging program.
Since your car has cams, it is possible that the previous owner had his 9415 changed to a 9400 to hold a custom tune. Without some tune tweaking, I don't know how your car is not misbehaving at idle with those big cams, lol. I think you are just used to your car now and, like most Mustang owner, craving more power. Of course, tweaking the tune will make the most out of the mods. So..........
I suggest that you contact a (good) SCT dealer near you and see what they can do with you mod list. IMO, your car is past "canned tunes" and will benefit from custom tuning. It would be even better if your SCT dealer can do a dyno tune along with some idle/drivability tuning so you get all the zip without any annoying habits.
