My 96 GT 5spd has the typical slow dropping rpms, but it seems that i never can get any lower than 1000rpms. I let the car warm up for like 15mins in my heated garage and the idle was steady at 1000rpms, this can't be right. Is there any way to lower my idle? I just went and bought some copper caps to take car of the slow drop, i just would like to know if i can get the idle a lil lower. Thanks

You may have to adjust the throttle position sensor (TPS). I think its supposed to be around .98-.99 volts with the car off, but the ignition on.

If you put a 1/2in copper spacer in the hose between the IAC and the black box, w/ a 7/16 or 9/16 (cant remember which one) hole drilled in the center, it will make your idle drop a little faster. It still doesn't drop it as fast as I'd like, but it does help.

Hey, there's an idle screw located on the throttle body. If you are looking at it from the passenger side fender then you turn the screw to the right to lower the idle. There's no head on the screw so just get some pliers to rotate it, make sure you don't mess up the threads though.

I'll try that...i tried to to turn it to the left but it didn't do anything so i'll try it the other way.

Anyone know how to adjust the TPS?

You have to measure the voltage with the car on, but the engine OFF. You measure off 2 of the wires on the TPS, but can't remember which ones. You have to unscrew the two TPS screws (Good Luck with that one) and rotate it one way or the other to achieve the .9x (cant remember that exactly either) v8thunder thought it was .98 to .99, I thought it was like .96 to .99 or somehthing. I say if you go .98 you'll be fine. You might have to elongate the holes on the TPS abit to achieve this though.

Anyone know which wires?
