Idle questions

I just bought aq 95GT auto. My question is that the idle is bad. When I bought the car it would idle ok but if I would rev it or take it out of gear going down the road, it seemed it took forever for the rpms to come down to an idle. My check engine light is on but I thought I had a bad IAC valve. I bought one from AutoZone (WELLS BRAND) and installed it. Now it idles at about 1,500 rpms. I took it out and drove it a couple of miles and if I would get on it a little it would come down to the correct idle. I thought it was ok because it was acting fine so I brought it home. As soon as I parked it in my drive way and put it in park the idle shot right back up to 1,500 rpms. I know I put the part on right but is there anything else I need to do to finish the install or is the TPS bad too?

Pull the codes - don't guess.

Also, are you sure it was the correct IAC? As an example, IIRC that brand of fox IAC has to be installed upside down for it to work properly.

Any vac leaks?

Is the air bleed screw backed out too far? Any more than 1.5 turns out and I had a hanging idle.

Good luck.

Well I unhooked the negative battery cable for about 45 minutes and unhooked the IAC plug. I started the car and it still idles high (1,500-2,00 rpms). I looked at the TB blade screw and its all the way out, so its not that. Is it possibe that its the tps. Could the air bleed screw still effect the idle since the IAC was disconnected?

Well i messed with the bleed screw by the IAC. I turned it all the way down and then 2 full turns back out. Now when I start it, it will hang at 1,500 rpms but if I rev it to about 4,000rpms it will go down to normal idle rpms and then die. I know why its dying though. the TB blade set screw is backed all the way out so all I have to do is turn it to where I need it. But at least now I can get it to idle to where I want it. As soon as I start it, I have to rev it to 4k and then its fine until I turn if off. As soon as I restart the car, the rpms shoot back up to 1,500 and after I rev it to 4K then its fine again until I turn it back off. I drove the car for about 5 miles after reving the motor to get the idle fine and it drives perfect. Any more Ideas?
