Ok, i have no smog pump, so the belt goes under the tensioner and around the alt and back. But, on the way back, it is running on the underside of the belt. So, basicly, the belt is rubbing against itself. I have to get back to the autozone to get one smaller, BUT, is this partly why my car has a charging problem? I cant get pics, i dont have a diagram....i just hope that you guys understand my jibberish.
thanks in advance

yes it will have an effect... think of it like gears on a bike, as you take certain gears out, the chain slows down... get a smaller alternator pulley or a smaller crank pulley to speed up the belt... or just upgrade toa 3G alternator and be done with it.

bigger crank pulley or smaller alternator pulley will speed up the alternator.
