after my 331 stroker rebuild, what would be more cost effective route(obviously that would handle the power) .. A new rebuilt AUTO (and which one) or a 5-speed, and Which one? I guess part of the answer depends on labor costs, but maybe someone here can get me started.

Thanks
RC

I'd go with a 4R70W tranny and call it a day. At your power levels you are going to rape a stock T5 unless you drive it well - TKO or T56 is $$$.

I am biased though.

Personally, I can't imagine driving around an automatic muscle car. I just like the feeling of bangin' through the gears and chirpin' the tires in 3rd. Now, if all you are after is good track times, then a quick shifting auto would probably be better.

I think a C4 would be the cheapest route but it all depends on whether you need an overdrive or not. if you want overdrive then the C4 is not for you.

well, anyone who knows rob knows the track isnt a concern. he has his for the same reason i do. to have a fun street car. as far as cost goes, you would be looking at around $2400 or so to drop a tko600 in there with all of the other stuff necessary for the swap minus labor of course. i cant speak for the auto's because i never bothered to price them after the second stock aod-e went south on me.

Thanks guys... For those that say 4R70W, what are we talking in terms of $$$?

Ive still been getting mixed feedback on whether or not the PI Stallion converter in my tranny will swap over.

Thanks

mustangless just put one in his turbo car a few weeks ago.

I saw a thread here a few days ago as well where a company was selling them for a couple hundred bucks.

Here it is... http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=698797&highlight=4r70w

I've got $2k in mine with buying the tranny from Don LaSota, an edge convertor, cooler, lines, fluid and a tranny jack.

transmission plus j-mod = 550-600 bucks.

I got mine from the junkyard for 450. From what I have read it should be good from anywhere in the 450-750hp area.us

Any CONFIRMATION on the PI Stallion from my AODE being a direct fit?
