Side broke .fix on side of the road via parking lot. Drive home 60miles next morning drive car bang now otherside broke.didnt think i had to touch heads. Shoud i have re checked if the bolts were tight?

Okay lets get the facts straight first.

You sent both heads to the shop in fully assembled form (cams, rockers, followers, etc.) correct?

Exactly what was the shop paid to do to the heads?

If they were paid to disassemble, repair/replace parts, and then reassemble you might want to challenge them on why the cam sprockets weren't apparently torqued to spec.

Yeah if I were you I'd go back to that shop and raise some hell. If they reassembled them it should have been done to factory specs.

You Fixed a broken cam gear on the side of the road? Are you a JB weld master? Do you carry spare cam gears in the glove box? ROFL

"cam gear on pass. Side broke .fix on side of the road via parking lot."

After it went boom how long did the engine keep spinning? You may have hit some valves. I would bore scope it before I ran it again and did even more damage.

This whole thread is confusing.
The shop should pay for all dammages if they broke due to ... well anything. You pay to have them rebuilt and they only last 50 miles? Sounds like one terriable shop IMO. How close you live to Corsicana? Cause I wana steer clear of that place

So really though, how did you fix a cam sproket on the side of the road? Double sided stickey tape?

If you are talking to me then you are just a bit wrong. I race these cars and several others. I have 2 spare motors and 2 more short blocks. All are Teksids. I also crewchief for a NASA ST1 06 Z06 and we are building 2 motors for that right now. We just had some head issues where the valve contacted the piston due to bad seat pressure. We are rebuilding the entire motor.

200 MPH tape to fix a broken cam gear? I have seen some really bad mickey mouse but never that one.

Really you should completely take it apart and have it cleaned and then everything re checked as its assembled. How long did it run with the broken parts? You may find that a lot more is damaged.

this thread hurts my head. the original poster needs to start talking in full sentences (or sentences at least) and not just stick periods in random places.

sounds like you have a problem with something which you assumed were the heads. so you removed the heads and sent them to the shop without actually knowing what was wrong. you received the heads back and just threw them on the car. then you were driving down the road and something happened (although quite what happened i cant be sure) so you fixed it with some tape in a parking lot. now you have lots of damage and are pissed.

to me it sounds like you got the heads back put them on and didnt attach the timing chain properly and caused more damage when the pistons smashed the valves due to your poor assembly.
