Why? Do you find yourself continually having to describe the function of a throwout bearing?

It should be called a compression bearing..it doesnt "throw" anything out.

This was named by the same guy that came up with dizzy, and tranny im thinkin'.

I think the 'technical ' term would be 'release bearing'
Throw out bearing has been used by 'shade tree' mechanics since I was a little kid.
Now 'dizzy' 'tranny' and even 'nos' had to have been started by those crazy kids driving Hondas out in California, they talk kinda strange anyway.
Oh, and I found the cutaway video interesting, I like visual aids

It was a throw out bearing to me 30 years ago, and will continue to be a throw out bearing, regardless of whether it’s throwing, catching, releasing, pushing or pulling! When you say “throw out bearing”, car guys know what you’re talking about and that’s what matters!
