I have a 2004 Mustang that I need to remove the ignition lock from the steering column so I can take it to a locksmith and get a key cut for it.
I removed the air bag and steering wheel, but ran across a black plastic disc that covers the ignition lock. Does anyone know how to remove this disc without breaking it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

If if you get the key cut for it, the engine still won't start with the PATS system. The car's ECU needs to be programed to the key. If you had both original keys, you could program a new 3rd key yourself, but since you don't have any, you'll need to have this done at the dealer.

Some locksmiths can do this, but they'll need the car. You only other option is to tow the car to the dealer.

The key cylinder is very easy to remove with a working mechanical key.

With NO working keys, the usual option is to break the locking bar and then put in a new/rebuilt key cylinder. This is what happened to me when I had a similar problem.

I would think that a locksmith could handle with a house call. This would at least save the cost of the tow.
