What are the ignition options for the '99 up 2v Mustangs? Everything I found was for the '96-'98 Mustangs. So, anybody know what's available out there?

I searched far and wide and found nothing. Sorry if this is a repost.

Aftermarket coil packs come to mind.

Grenatalli makes some, but you will get a freight train of people that speak against that company. There is an interesting article about them in this months 5.0 Mustang magazing though. They gained 15rwhp on a supercharged Mustang, but im not sure how they would do N/A. Even if the rest of the companys stuff isnt good, these looked pretty stout.

Ive heard Accel is coming out with, or allready has performance coil packs out also. Not sure if they are out yet or not though...

Yeah, so far all I've heard about are the Grenatelli, and how they are crap. I was under the impression that nobody else made some. I'm sure the Motorcraft are fine for mild applications, but after I install everything on my car I was wondering about upgrading the coils, plugs and wires.

Granatelli makes upgraded coil to plug connectors and also upgraded coils. Way expensive and no one recommends Granatelli. I would recommend you stay with the stock stuff until a good name like Accel puts something out.

People are running Motorcraft coils on 400+ rwhp boosted 'stangs, so I think you should be fine. They're still the best in terms of performance and reliability for you 99+ guys. Doesn't KB make a boost-a-spark to increase voltage output?

I thought MSD made a "stacker" capacitive discharge unit that is designed to connect to the coil packs, but can't find evidence of that on their website.

Ignition Solutions offers the highly controversial Plasma Booster . . . http://www.ignitionsolutions.com/productsBooster.asp

Ignition Solutions Plasma Booster does not work with Coil on Plug as far as I can tell from the vendor website.

Kenne Bell Boost a Spark is the only thing in the thread so far that I would consider personally using if I needed to.

That isn't true. They work fine. I don't know why though, but some people get nothing while others see gains with them. Not sure if it's the PB quality or what.

So, there's nothing really then...

I guess stock will have to do until a quality name makes a quality product to replace stock components. I don't feel comfortable adding something to stock components to "Boost" the output or performance of it....especailly electrical components. You are going to have to really sell me on that idea before I put down the money.

your only two options for the aftermarket stuff is the granatelli stuff or the boost-a-spark from KB, otherwise stay with the OEM stuff

Interestingly enough, it would appear that the Plasma Booster for coil on plug applications no longer appears on their website . . . I wonder why. If you'd like to know more about this product, then do a search for "Plasma Booster" on the forum - you'll find about a thousand threads in regards. I know mine was a mark-ed improvement over the OEM ignition.

So looks like the only real option now is the Kenne Bell boost-a-spark. I don't have any experience with it obviously, but I also haven't seen any people complaining about its performance/durability
