Ignition Problems.

While moving home from college to start my new job The Mustang Shut down on me while Crusing on the interstate. It acted as if someone just Shut the key off. My dad and i trailered the car home and have been trying to diagnose the problem. I removed the DIS module and Tried to get it tested but none of the autozones in town could get their testers to work with my old one, or their new ones. We tested 6 different modules and all of the tests failed to even check anything. So i bought a new module and replaced it. No go. So i took that module back but i am not sure where to go next. I am Not getting spark out of either coil pack so its unlikely both would go at once. The guy at Advance tells me that the crank triggers go out all the time but that looks like alot of work to change for something that may or may not even be the problem. Anyone have any suggestions of things i might be missing? If i can get it running Ill just have to move up my turbo swap timetable but i would rather not be rushed building the turbo motor. If you have any ideas, please post em.

BTW, the fuel pump works, and the rail has pressure.

i say rip it out and work on the turbo motor to put in... unless this is your daily driver...

otherwise check with a voltmeter at the harnesses. check at the ICM that its getting the right signals. Make sure the icm is working. see what plugs if any are getting spark. and work from there...

It is my Daily Driver so i kinda need it soon. I still havent rebuilt the TC motor yet either. and i dont have the cash to do it right now.
I will check the IRCM but i do know the EEC and the Fuel Pump are both getting power, Im gonna check wires tomorrow, None of the plugs fire.

Alreay tried that, the ECC IV isnt much good for codes, there are about a thousand for my transmission errors, but nothing else looks wrong.

Ok, i figured out the problem, but then Created another one. I replaced the Hall Effect sensor (crank trigger) and Now i get spark, and i have fuel, so it should run... except while turning the motor over by hand i accidently stripped the teeth off about 4" of the timing belt. So timing is all wack now. So i bought a new belt but i cannot get the hall effect rotor off to get to the crank timing sprocket. I also F'ed up the timing cover trying to run the wiring to the crank sensor behind it so i a large chunk of the inner timing cover is broken off. so.....

#1 Can i find TDC without taking off the Crankshaft shutterwheel to see the timing marks on the timing sprocket?
#2 Can i put a timing belt on without taking off the crankshaft shutterwheel?
#3 Should i just Pull the motor out, rebuild the Turbo motor and Drop that in?

Btw Stinger.. i am tempted to do just what you suggest, but I have a spare car so i would just do the swap the right way, it would take longer but thats ok. Now that i am living at home i am gonna start on the engine in the next week or so anyway. this motor only has to last till spring when i can swap.
