I have a 302 mexican block that I'm building up right now (gt40 heads, trickflow street heat intake). The plan is to have it a twin turbo charged daily driven street car around 425-450RWHP. The odd time that I would make it to the track I might shoot for a number over 500RWHP on race gas. Right now I'm purchasing everything for my ignition setup, and I was wondering if I could get some opinions on what would work well for this engine.
So far I have purchased:
MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Wires
MSD Pro-Billet Distributor
Accel Ignition Module
I was thinking about finishing it off with a Crane Hi-6R ignition box, since it seems to be cheaper, better built, and more configurable than an MSD equivalent. Is anyone else running a crane ignition box with an msd distributor? Any issues?
I'm also having trouble picking out a coil. On one hand I am thinking about getting an MSD blaster since I have the MSD distributor and wires already, and have been told that MSD parts work well together, but suck crap when mixed with oem parts or other aftermarket companies parts. On the other hand I would like to get a Crane coil because Crane seems to have a very good name out there that everyone trusts. But what is the difference between the lx-91, lx-92, ps-91, ps-92 coils that they have? Which one would be the best for my setup? I could also get the Accel coil
Is there anything else I should be buying when thinking about the ignition setup? Thanks.
