Ignition switch / starter questions.

What colors are the wires comming off the back of the ignition switch that go to the starter? When I bought my Mustang it had a push button starter in it from some reason (guessing the switch went bad, but am not sure). I am guessing the colors are (1) BLACK wire and (1) BLACK/GREEN wire?

If your talking about a 65, the wire from the ignition switch is red/blue, and it goes from the switch to the nuetral safety switch, then to the starter solinoid, but the color stays the same all the way.

I followed the wires (and looked at my old Chiltons book in the schematic) and found out there were 2 connectors not even connected.

So, for some odd reason, this car didn't have them connected and the person who owned it before me put a push button starter in it.

I connected the two connectors and the starter kicked right off with the key in the ignition switch. And this whole time I thought it may have been bad.
