on my 88tc-91lx stang swap i cannot get it to run...I have set tha timing about three times, this last time i put a new timing belt on and in the process i went ahead and set everything a top dead center including the distributor so that it is pointing at my #1 plug towards the firewall...so with the new timing belt and everything being lined up it was doing the same thing as before which is starting and even running, but as soon as i let of the ignition it just stops. could this be my ignition switch? it is the only thing i can thing of at this point, if anybody can shed some light on the subject it would be greatly apprecitated

I had that problem. Car would fire right up, but as soon as I let the key return to run the car would die. Drove me batty for awhile. Then found out it was part of the ignition switching in the steering column. Right in back of the ignition tumbler, there is the switching box (what I call it). Top part of it is part of the column, second part is plastic and then there is the plug with all the ignition wires.
The aluminum tabs had busted off in two places. So the contacts would work when you go to start it, but would not contact in the run position. It is held on with electric tape for the time being. Hope this helps.
