I'm trying to hook up my ignition switch but not sure which wire goes where. The car came to me as a basket case so I don't the have reference of taking it apart. When you put the connector from the wiring loom back on the switch there is a wire (the red one in the picture) that I don't know where it goes. I thought it went on the post that comes out of the switch itself but it wont slip over the post. I was told it goes to the cigarette lighter but I'm not sure. In every instructional video on the web it shows a wire with a looped connector attaching to the post off the switch. if that is the case I cant find that wire

Hope those pics help. That red one doesn't look like cig lighter to me. The red-blue, NSS = Nuetral safety switch if you have an automatic.

Didn't look at you pic good first time. That red wire looked like it was separate from your multiconnector but now I see its coming out of the connector. this is your connection to either your NSS (neutral safety switch) if you have automatic trans or it will go to your solenoid if manual shift.

That makes it worse Now I need to find where the NSS wire is at to connect that. I took another picture of all the wires that are in that loom. You can see the red wire out of the connector that is probably be the NSS (it is an automatic). The silver resistor like thing in my hand has 2 wires going into it and one black wire coming out of it. There is a grey wire that is just above the ignition switch. I thought it was for the cigarette lighter.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the dash? I also need to figure out which light bulb goes into which hole on the gage cluster.

The cig lighter should be blue w/white. could that grey actually be faded blue? it should also have a 90 deg female connector. You didn't specify which year you have so here are 65 and 66 instr panel. That silver thing is your voltage regulator for you gauges such as fuel gauge. Your neutral safety wire should be the same color with a male connector unless its been removed.

You would be best to get a wiring diagram form any parts vender .They are color coded and makes it a snap to hook up .Make sure you get the diagram for your year .

Thanks TOS for the diagrams. My Mustang is a 65 and It has come a long ways. I just need that extra push to get it the rest of the way.

I agree "Horse Sense" that a color diagram would be nice but I think all my wires are faded
