i'm getting the mongoose kit

I know the OP was daydreaming but...

I'm just guessing, but it seems like a mongoose equiped GT shouldn't have a problem with a stock or midly modified 03/04 Cobra.

This is assuming that the GT is geared 4.10's with sticky tires. The GT will also be about 450lbs lighter with a live axle=no wheel hop and stronger with axles. Take about 200lbs. out of the GT and it should beat/hang with all but Kenne Bell Cobras.

Is this way off base?

From what I understand the kit comes with the Xcal2. So do I just use that to adjust my program or does MPH have to adjust it?
yes MPH will provide the perfect tune through the Xcal2 you will recieve from them as Tim stated in his E-mail he sent me last night. He said i shouldnt even worry about going to a dyno shop at all. But anyways , the answer to your question is , yes you will get a tune .

Sorry you aren't going to get yours. I'm gonna order my Mongoose kit next week!!

Couple questions.
Is the SQ better than the S trim? I've heard the S trim and it's really loud. I want it to be quieter but not silent. Will you still be able to hear the SQ? I also want to get the 4" power pipe. What psi will I see with the power pipe installed?

So when I get the kit installed I understand I need to take it to the dyno. The closest one is 2.5hrs away. He is 3 pulls for $75. Then how does it work if I need my program adjusted? Would really like to do it one time when I go to the dyno, then have to keep going back?

Is there anything I will need to buy for the installation? Or anything I especially need to be aware of when driving my supercharged Gt? New to the supercharger world!

Thanks for all the Help everyone!

Get the S type. You will love the sound. And as MPH claims the Power pipe will add about 2-3psi :)

hope this helps

Thanks for the link and helping me with my questions. So I will see around 10 pounds of boost with the power pipe? Which one is actually the better unit(or should I say makes the most power), the s or SQ?

as stated before the SQ makes less amazing SC noise(whistle) thats all i think.

SSDD....specs copied directly from Vortech

VORTECH V-1 S-TRIM SUPERCHARGER
The industry standard supercharger

*Straight cut spur gear
*Fits engines up to 680 horsepower
*Maximum airflow: 1,000 CFM *
*Maximum boost pressure: 20 PSI *
*Maximum impeller speed: 50,000 RPM
*Adiabatic efficiency: 72% **
*Available with straight or curved discharge and clockwise or counterclockwise rotation
VORTECH V-2 SQ (Super Quiet) SUPERCHARGER
The new generation supercharger included in most Vortech street supercharging systems

*Helical cut gear profile with SQ technology
*Near silent operation
*Fits engines up to 680 horsepower
*Maximum airflow: 1,000 CFM *
*Maximum boost pressure: 20 PSI *
*Maximum impeller speed: 50,000 RPM
*Adiabatic efficiency: 72% **
*Available with straight or curved discharge and clockwise or counterclockwise rotation

Depending on the model, the SQ may have a slightly higher Adiabatic efficiency rating because of the helical cut gears, but nothing you'll ever notice when the cards are down.

Choose between the two based on sound, nothing more. :nice:

well say your making @375rwhp from the mongoose on your stock shortblock...thats what most 03/04 cobra's make stock...how many do think are still stock? with minmal effort they get up to 425-475rwhp so good luck challenging those guys  So if you want to play with the cobras you will need to get the forged internals and crank up the boost.

Absolutely. 03/04 Cobras only need two very inexpensive items to go from 375-380HP to over 425HP. One is a Hypertech programmer which will give them about 40-45HP just by reprogramming/retiming the motor. Another is a smaller (2.8") supercharger drive pulley to increase boost from stock (8lbs) to around 12lbs and adds another 20-30HP. The result, a whopping 70HP (+/- 5HP) for less than $500. The programmer can be used to retune the motor to the new pulley and program for more fuel to be delivered by the fuel system so that it doesn't encounter a 'lean' air/fuel mixture ratio which could result in burned pistons. This is on a STOCK COBRA. Adding headers (LTs), X-Pipes (Uncatted) and catback exhaust can only improve this condition and add up to another 40-50HP on a Cobra application pushing it in the 475-500HP range with less than $2500 spent on basic mods. :owned:

cai's yield about 15-20rwhp as well

not to bore all of the regulars but, i too am in the market & have checked out mph & i have a question im hoping someone could answer. what is the benefit of buying an mph kit & having someone local to me install it vs. buying a kit from a local place & having them install & tune it? what am i missing? afterall, both kits would be checked & tuned on the dyno for a/f etc......for my specific car. also, i think i want a novi 2000, how loud are those compared to the s & the sq vortechs? as far as durability & quality, what is better, the paxton or the vortech? one more question, how reliable & safe is methanol injection? is it really a good option for a car that will get driven once or twice a week & probably never see the track? this has gotton confusing over the past few years since the basic 5.0 days. thanks!
