What is the argument? Some GT drivers feel that Cobra owners are stuck-up pricks? I think that's covered.

Cobra badges on a non-Cobra is just dumb, but bumpers and whatever else are simply personal aesthetic taste. I don't understand people who get every Cobra cosmetic part for their V6 or GT instead of putting that money down on a full-on Cobra, but whatever.

Just throwing this out there … OP started this thread looking for an argument, pegging GT owners against Cobra owners, numerous people complain about how the Cobra guys have attitudes and hating on them because they talk trash, you say they have an entire web forum devoted to bashing GT guys, you post videos of a GT racing a Cobra and claim a win but only show who got to the end of the track first, the Cobra doesn’t do a big smoky burn out like the GT and leaves ½ sec later, then never shows times or MPH, finally you call out the Cobra guys like they are afraid to post… Well done you sure showed them, could it be the Cobra guys think that the childish antics of the GT guys is the EXACT reason they look down on you, maybe it is because the Cobra has a tradition of being the “top of the line” mustang and for that reason is inherently better than the GT. Compare apples to apples, a heavily modified GT is only a GT by name and should be considered good competition for a Cobra. Besides there are lots of LS1’s running around that need to be put in their place, and if your running Cobra or GT badges with a 3.8, race an LS1 and loose, please make sure they don’t have a video camera cause you know that chit will be on youtub claiming to romp a supercharged mustang which gives us all a bad name. This was meant as a joke please don’t be offended but seriously If you have a GT don’t pretend its something its not because most soccer mom mini vans will take you in the ¼ mile … and if you have a Cobra yes your %$@# stinks too so don’t flaunt it… finally you may all bow before the Mach 1 …. LOL

Well....that's typically the winner of a race....

Cobra had better drag radials than I did. His choice not to get them warm. My Nittos REQUIRE a big smoky burn out to hook.

Nope, no hatage upon Cobras from me. It is EXTREMELY rare to hear a GT (or any Mustang owner) say that they wouldn't love to own a Cobra if they could. What you will find, though, are Cobra owners that despise anything less than their almighty Cobra. You can have a very tastefully modded V6, GT, Mach 1, whatever, it could even be faster/better than their Cobra, but they will give you hell over it JUST BECAUSE IT'S NOT A COBRA. That's all anyone here is saying. SVTP is a picture-perfect example of that. I absolutely love Cobras, but I do not care for the drivers of them that think their s*** doesn't stink. It's that simple.

Oh, and I beat a supercharged Mach 1 at the track last time I went.

my main argument here is , i really wanna know if theres any cobra owners out there willing to admit, hey, im against you using our car body parts, and to openly say, yes, gt's are pieces of crap. because come to realize, although the GT community may have a whole lot more tools, the cobra community seem to have the biggest jackass tools around.....and some being so bad to put them on the same level of srt4 owners.

and to bradfier, im sorry, no minivan will beat me lol. that was a total insult upon the GT community. you do make a valid point in what you have said , and im pretty sure i can bring an SUV that'll put your mach 1 to shame, along with a handfull of other cobra owners too. if you do not believe me, go research on the bmw x5 m with a computer upgrade. thus said, can you post a pic of your car, because it looks pretty sexy in your sig lol.

this argument is overplayed already. why worry about owners of other cars whether its a GT or a cobra, there shouldn't be an argument about this. the bigger picture should be about the long time rival between ford and chevy.. When i get a cobra i won't be worried about racing or doggin on another mustang owner, i'll be after all the chevy/GM boys. so focus your energy towards these goals and we can become "one" and work as a team. don't let autobody parts and attitudes tear the ford folks apart... just silly yo!

I have had a cobra owner or two look down on my for having "just" a GT. I have never seen or heard of one hating on the GT guys for having cobra parts on their cars but I have heard one guy joke about the GT guys copying them.

What I can't stand is the stuck up S197 shelby owners I have run into. I went on a cruise with a local club years ago and all I heard from those guys is "Hey I drive a shelby" "Did you know that the (insert random color) shelby is mine" These guys were also out there sporting shelby wind breakers and hats. After hearing it at EVERY single stop during the cuise I came to the conclusion that all of these guys were just a bunch of tools who like to look down their noses at anyone who doesnt own a shelby. Hell one guys wife was even braging.

One guy asked me what car in the parking lot was mine. I told him "That GT with the KB 2.1 on it right under the tree". This jack*** gave me this look like my gt isnt s*** and then says "Oh just a GT then huh? Yeah I drive that GT-H over there cost me almost 40k" So he just overpaid for a GT with gold stripes, a short throw, CAI and some badging. He acted like I should want to go drool over his car. I just told him I saw it already and it was nice.

But after hearing this same guy over and over stop after stop I was ready to ask him to race for a few hundred bucks just to humble him a little because he was braging how fast it was too. He snubbed just about everyone but the club owner and his fellow shelby guys. Granted this is only one experience but it still pist me off a little. Not one of those guys wanted to talk to anyone for any purpose other then to brag about their shelby. You could hear the condisending tones in their voices.

I can't stand fanboys! I love cars! All cars! It can be a Gt, Wrx, Honda, Pinto.... as long as it is clean and tastefully modded. Sleepers are especially cool! Friend at work has a 400HP ef Civic that is very quiet and stock looking. The car weighs 1900lbs!

well, the only reason why i opened this topic was because of what i read at the svt forum about our cars. the GT's in particular. I know some cobra guys are pretty cool dudes, and the reality is, some cobra owners think they're the ****. if you ask me, we should all have the same mutual respect towards one another because we're all ford fans. but the only vib i got was that, cobra's are seperate from the rest of the mustang community, and it itself, is not even a mustang, but a "COBRA"

does that make sense?

+1 to this. All of it. I have a friend with a 400+hp EM1 Civic.

I'm stuck in the middle of the road here. I'm a Cobra owner, but I don't get any respect cause it isn't an 03/04. Personally I'm jealous of you GT guys having more bolt on power adder options.

I hear a lot more stuff from S197 owners then any Cobra owner I have run into. I have had several 4.0 V6 owners try to say that there car with simple bolt ons will walk mine, . I could have bought a cobra, Mach 1 or even an s197 when I bought my car, budget was under 20K. But My car was a one owner(knew him), very well maintained and had low miles at a screaming deal of $6500. I rather have a simple old "GT" then a massive car payment during college.

Plus, with FI any 2v done right, can easily keep up with 80% of the cobras out there or even beat them. I just wish my car had a T56 and IRS.

If there is a cobra around here, it's going to just have a port, pulley, and tune. Nothing special. If they get to running their mouths hard core, then I ask them if they want to race my little 2v. Dig or roll, pick your poison.

Sneaky - if I line up against a top fuel rail and they give me a 1, 2, 3, … 11 sec. head start I’ll probably cross the line first … maybe … but that doesn’t mean I have the faster car

and your right I have no doubt your car beat a Mach 1, yours is one of, if not the nicest cars here, and it post numbers to show its not all show and no go.

Mazen - I have no doubt that an $50k vehicle is faster than mine, and I am fine with that, I have no problem loosing to a faster car, and I have a great deal of respect for those who can build one. BUT look at the numbers…

First time I ran and beat a Cobra, the owner looked a little pissed.

I love the Cobras and most of the owners I know are pretty down to earth. I do know of a few that make it known exactly how much power and exactly how fast the car runs... at all times.

In my area, it's really the GT500 owners that swing their peenor around all day touting their cars versus a GT or other model. Young or old... it's annoying.

Again I am throwing the big on this one. Show me one of those mini vans that is faster then a 99 GT in the 1/4. HP isnt everything when it comes to performance. Weight, gearing, and tq curve all play a roll. So what two of those vans have a few more hp but they are geared for maximum fuel economy and are very heavy.
