I just installed a 125hp dry shot on my stock H/C and explorer intake 89 GT. I have all the bolt ons plus 1.7 roller rockers. the car was running good all night and then after the 4th pass i popped my hood and saw my timing spout clip was sitting on my radiator! I forgot to put it back in after i set my timing for spray. Needless to say it ran great until i put it back in. The next run It pulled hard in 1st and 2nd then started to detonate in 3rd so i got out of it. Since then i have changed my plugs, refilled the bottle and did a compression test, all came out fine. Now it pulls hard in 1st and 2nd but dies down in 3rd and up. Its not detonating now, its just like surging for power.
Nitrous tune consist of:
plugs: Autolite 23's gapped at .35
Fuel: 255 pump, stock 19lb injectors, adj fuel psi reg set at 50psi
Ignition: stock distributor, MSD cap and rotor, FMS 8.5 wires, MSD street fighter coil and new TFI all at 8 degrees initial timing.

Anybody know if that spout clip being out and spraying it could have messed something up? Also It kinda surges at idle and under 3000rpm now. Oil PSI is at the normal psi still......bottom end is fine. All and all it still runs hard though on motor though. Just want to know if there is a reason it is killing power on the big end. Any help is greatly appreciated! thanks

1st- Id add a fuel solinoid, easy to do.
2nd- 125 shot is a decent shot, I personally wouldnt run over a 75 without some type of timing retard.

Wet shot ftw.
I've have my timing at 10* for my 125 shot, it's not quite as "safe" as the manual will recommend but it is safe enough for me.

well my timing is retarded 4-6 degrees. Maybe i should turn it up a lil bit then. I just heard about something like the flame getting blown out if the plugs arent gaped tight enough.....but why only in 3rd gear is all of this happening though!!! My fuel pressure safety switch may be what is causing it too possibly? How would i fix that? raise the fuel pressure? More timing?

happens in upper gears because there is more load on the motor...

and 19lb injectors i dunno about the rest of you but id have AT LEAST a set of 24's on that much of a dry hit

Well i dug into this problem and think i found the issue. I have the 5115 kit. which is only a 75 shot unless you upgrade with the 0015 upgrade or get the 5115-2 kit that is with a fuel pump and SHIM for a 150 shot. I just upgraded my pump to a 255 and figured that was the only thing i needed for the bigger HP jet.....wrong. I need that shim aslo i do believe!! So i ordered the shim and im going to put the 150 shot to her!!! fux it, 235,000 miles.....i have ran it over 30 times and its still my daily driver. Ive sprayed it over 10 times and it runs great. Ive got a 8.60 @ 87mph with the 125 shot, and bfg drag radials but thats with a 2.2 60ft. ive 2.0'd on street tires and motor before and went 8.90 though. I gotta hook and hopefully i can get some high 7's on the bottle out of it before it blows!! Thanks for the help, if that shim doesnt help ill be back on here with some more questions!
