I'm looking to replace my 93 LX headlights. I pretty sure that I'm gonna keep the stock look of a 6 piece headlights with the yellow side markers.

I have been reading around the forums, and it seems that people recommend going with Ford center headlights , instead of the cheaper knockoffs.

I've been seaching around and all i can find is the non-ford sets.

Anyone know of good place, at a good price to pick up a 6 piece headlight set with the ford centers lights?

Thanks

Same here, I put some extra clear silicone around the edges for good measure. They seem to be holding up well.

I went with the projector style, I hate it now. I am going to replace the center lamps with diamond clears.

It's probably safe to assume that he doesn't want to spend $400+ and dozens of hours of his time on headlights

it probably safe to assume that...

but doesn't make it any less true that the "best" headlights are hid retrofits on clear (un-fluted) headlights.

ha, thats true. If they only last a few years before yellowing. they are still less then half the price of the ford ones.

yeah, i found plenty of sites selling reproductions. I was asking about the ones with the ford logo on them - and if they are worth the extra cash.

Yeah, the OE Ford headlamps will get you about 7 - 10 years if properly cared for. It also depends on where you live. If it's a place like Florida, expect less if you don't have a garage. The sun eats stuff up down here for lunch. And BTW, you WILL not get the OE Ford headlamps for cheap anymore., at least not from a good distributor. The reason for this is that Ford's stock of Fox body Mustang headlamps are running low so the price has gone up considerably. See, I WAS going to get the 6 piece set with the Ford headlights but by the time I got to it, the price had skyrocketed. You USED to be able to get the 6 piece set with economy side markers and park lamps with Ford Headlights for $129. Used to I say. Not anymore. The economy headlamps are made by a company called DEPO. The headlights are not too bad but i'm not real sure how long they last. I bought the 6 piece economy kit with econo headlights for $99 when it was on sale in April last year. The headlights are still looking clear and glossy. The center park lamps are yellowing yet still glossy. The yellowing gives me concern because they were not that way when I first installed them.

Anyway, if you are on a budget, get the 6 piece Economy set from LRS. It's a good buy. I just don't know about those center park lamps.

Adding silicone sealant to the sealing areas of the headlamp lenses does not help. You WILL still get condensation in them. I've had to remove my headlamps twice in the last 11 month because moisture formed inside. It's unavoidable here in South Florida where it's damp and hot mostly. I removed them to let them air out. What you really needto do (and what I've heard from a 'few' other people) is to drill a couple of small holes in the bottom and top where they cannot be seen. That way the lamp housing can breathe and circulate air. If you look, you'll notice small holes on your park lamp assemblies. Made for the same reason. Don't know why they didn't put them on the headlamp housings.

Thanks MustangLX-5.0, thats what i kinda was figuring with the availibilty and price of the OE Ford ones. Good tip on putting hidden breather holes in them. When I get them, in the next month or two i'll try to post some before and after shots.

Thanks Guys.//

I was shocked too see how much the oem stuff has gone up. I'm glad I got my set when I did. I bought mine from here PPI | Exterior | 1979-1993. OEM stuff is going to fit the best and have the quality but the the cost will be a factor, i guess even more now.

I was just browsing PPI. There asking 233 for a pair!!! ouch/

I found some older threads from a few years back and that same site was only asking 69.99 for the pair!

Well its pretty safe to assume that im not going to find oem's at a discount.

The set I recently install on my car had drain tubes on the top and bottom of the headlight. They were an aftermarket set from LRS.
