I was looking at my engine in my 1990 5.0 last night and I was looking over the conditions of the hoses connecting all of my check valves together.
I found it odd that the one end of the hose coming from the upper check valve to the middle check valve (you know, where 3 hoses connect to it) was missing a clamp! All other connections DID have clamps on them. I pulled out my Chiltons and in the picture in the Emissions Chapter, sure enough, there was a clamp in the same spot I was missing it.
Guys, what would be the repercussions of not having a clamp at this valve point? It seemed pretty tight, however, who knows what the connection is like when the car is at operating temps. Do the hoses expand much? I haven't noticed/heard any hissing sounds, although sometimes at idle my needle fluctuates a bit but I always thought that was due to a dirty throttle body or my aftermarket cam.
Could I be losing some vacuum at this point?????????????????
