If a Roush Mustang looses to a stock C5 on a track and at the strip,

and

A stock C5 gets it's doors blown off by a stock z06

and

A stock Roush Stang beats the GT500 around a track

Then why would Motor Trend pit the KR vs the Z06 when the KR will only get more HP and a stiffer suspension as the GT500 when the GT500 already looses to the Roush which looses to a stock vette???

PLEASE MAKE SOME SENSE OUT OF THIS FOR ME!

Why or how is the KR going to be worth the money? For the 20/30/40/50k mark up, a stock stang with some work will run nearly the same times, the difference being, you have 30k left over for ANOTHER NEW STANG!
 
How much you spend on a car does not equate to how much horsepower it has, or what it can/cannot beat..

What you spend on a car determines the brand, as well as the name.. In this case, SVT and SHELBY.. not necessarily how fast it is or how stiff the suspension is..

In your never-ending quest to undermine Carrol Shelby's name, you must understand that people will buy a car for the name, not just for the horsepower.. :nonono:



Please, stop with the horsepower/engine ratings... There are a lot of people out there that buy a car for looks, as well as never having the desire to owning a GM product.. :nono:

Also, look at the actual MSRP's of these cars; they are worth every bit of the window stickers. However, the majority of dealers are greedy, only using these cars to get people into their showrooms..

As far as I know, Ford nor Shelby have control of the mark-ups added to the car.. Just do some searching to find one at MSRP..
 
The Shelby GT and the GT500 mark ups are coming to an end very soon. In fact my brother tracks Saleen's on ebay and he's told me the Shebly GTs and Saleens are selling at msrp right now, which means very soon, you'll see discounts offered, which I agree with him.

Yes some will buy a car no matter what, but as "car guys" shouldn't we at least put pressure on Ford and Shelby to produce a mid to high 40k Stang with IRS minus 500 pounds with 500 HP?????

It's all about name and price. GT500s are going to be sold at mark up until, a sad day it will be, when Shelby dies. Then you'll start seeing the price on new ones dropping in the dealers.

The post Shelby's death ones just won't have the same deep rooted appeal for collectors and red neck asses willing to pay 20k over sticker. Unless they come out with a "Shelby Legacy" version. Kind of like these low run KRs and SNs.

They will be known as the "post Shelby GT500s". That is if Ford is even still in business. :\

As for prices dropping. I've ONLY seen the price of Saleens and Roushs drop to MSRP requests. GT500s are still selling way high.

I've read of a few GT500's going for sticker. You just have to search for them in places where there isn't a lot of traffic (think montana type areas).

Also, a stock C5 isn't that fast. I can hang with one and my friend who has a few more mods than me (not much) can destroy one.

Come sept when it gets cold again, I think the GT500's are done. I'd be curious to see if Shelby and Ford can keep them moving out of dealerships. If sales stall and they offer discounts, it's going to send waves through the Shelby world. Imagine you bought a 500 for 50-60k and a year later you could have gotten it for 42k. I'd be pissed. No car brings 8-18k enjoyment.

I don't think someone will not buy a GT500 because, well, it's the wrong time of the year.. They see the badges on the car, as well as what it stands for.. :nonono:

Looking back though, I may have paid too much for my Shelby.. It was awfully cold that day..:rolleyes: I should have gotten $5K knocked off..:nice:

Not rocket science here guys. Stangs are cheaper in the winter. Everyone knows this. Once the cold weather comes and people start thinking ice, rain, snow etc, the sales of sports cars go way down.

Until he breaks a forum rule, gentlemen, NO. We simply can't get rid of him because we dislike his opinion, comments, or discussion of microeconomics in relation to "name" brand Mustangs.

It is what it is. Use the Ignore function in the user control panel and amazing things happen.

Rest assured he is on my "love list" and I am watching him like yesterday's carrion.

Continue on gentlemen and fight the good fight. This is not one of them. :nice:

Not rocket science here guys. Stangs are cheaper in the winter. Everyone knows this. Once the cold weather comes and people start thinking ice, rain, snow etc, the sales of sports cars go way down.

You make the mistake that people that buy sports cars only live up North. Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Arizona, etc... don't get much ice or snow. In fact, last year south Louisiana didn't get any ice or snow and I drove my Mustang just as much as I drove it in the summer.

Mark-up will continue to happen for quite some time on the GT500's and you need to come to the sad realization that it is what it is. Sure, the GT500 KR is NOT worth the money to a performance guy, at all. But to the old geezer or car enthusiast, it is well worth the mark up they are paying. It's a good thing you aren't a car salesman because you probably wouldn't make much. You don't even know why certain people buy certain cars.
