Im so close to ordering a new interior, but prices are confusing me!

Ok, I have contacted 2 places for a complete interior makeover for my mustang. Includes a new 1967 Deluxe aluminum trim interior, and procar elite seats. can somebody give me an estimate on how much a complete new 1967 Deluxe interior ( all in black) with everything to complete it ( so far I know the doors are the most important part of the interior) including all the dash pieces needed and the procar elite seats. Anybody can refer me to any good places. I have like almost 2500 for the interior, so maybe somebody can give me some good prices for the interior. I need practically everything, like dash pad and seat upholstery and dash panels.

$2500 for the interior? That's a lot of kablinky. You can get all new everything along with custom leather seats installed for that price. Complete kits are available from vendors like Laurel Mountain Mustang and Mustang Depot. You are lucky because the dash for your year is not that expensive at $180. Mine was $430 for a new dash. I paid about $1200 and got a new dash, new carpeting, new headliner, new Mach 1 upholstory front and back, new seat foam in the front, new door panels, new kick panels, and other stuff I cannot remember for the moment. The most spendy item by far was the new dash.

Heck diddly no. I priced this out at LMM

door panels = $165
alum inserts = $65
carpeting = $125
headliner = $25
dashboard = $180
rear seat upholstory = $158
pro car elites = $575 pair

grand total of $1300 plus some shipping.

I think you missed the speaker grill molding, the courtesy light, and the Aluminum dash panels. but other than that, from MD, I was quoted, with shipping, 2290, for procars and the deluxe interior trim. And not everything was included to complete the doors. Im really concerned about the doors, if i can get all the parts to complete the doors.

MD tends to have higher prices than other vendors. LMM asks $575 for the vinyl procars while MD wants $699.

If speaker grill molding, courtesy lights, adn alum dash panels add up to another $900, I would be doing some comparison shopping.

the speaker grill molding is quite expensive, but the courtesy lights are not bad. Im waiting for a email from Mustangs unlimited for my interior quote. they quoted me 1500 without seats. But i went in my car and looked around, and I noted that I dont need kickpanels. My kickpanels are in good condition, and i can just paint them black and cut the holes for the speakers myself. Do you know where I can get new vent grilles for the inside? the chrome is bubbling, and i think it needs to be replaced.

I’m also looking into doing a complete 67 deluxe interior from scratch and have found that your estimate of $2,500 may not be too far off. To complete a Deluxe 67 door alone involves a lot of expensive parts. In some of the previous replies a price for the aluminum door insert was quoted at $65. $65 will get you an overlay for an existing insert but if you’re starting from scratch it will cost approx. $250 for the complete insert. Also as previously mentioned speaker grilles, door panels and door panel’s trim add up real quick.

When I priced things out, I priced the complete interior with TMI’s new sport style seating instead on the Procar seats and came up with slightly over $2,000, So I think we’re pretty much in the same ballpark.

I to have been looking to return my car to the deluxe interior the PO did not like it and replaced most of the parts with 68 stuff . I agree with all the brushed aluminum inserts and hardware required 2500 is about right. This stuff is not cheap to do it from scratch and if you add in the consoles, it will be much more. It is my understanding that Virginia mustang has some good aluminum pieces.

I think this is an unfair statement! We are very competitive and we'll price match.

LM is not including the seat brackets in their price. On the list you mentioned for parts, we are less expensive on half the items and the statement made about overlays is correct. That's not the price for real aluminum inserts and the moldings are expensive as well.

John is not mentioning the fact that he lives in Hawaii and a substantial amount of that is a loose estimate was on shipping his seats (double oversize) and all the rest of his interior.

I think these alum pieces are way over-priced. You can buy the pieces yourself, cut them to fit, brush them with a sanding block, and glue them in. I am doing carbon fiber applique myself for my door panels, instrument panel, and where the clock goes on my car. Where there was wood grain on my 69 Mach 1, there will be carbon figer. Total materials costs are less than $150.

Jay is right. I do live in hawaii, and the shipping prices are killer! Im pretty much building this interior from scratch. Right now I have a ugly lime gold interior (the original color of my car is lime gold) so now I want to redo the whole interior, everything is all messed up, the doors need to be cleaned up, I need to paint the rear quarter trim panels, and a lot more things. I was just thinking of sticking with a black standard interior, but my dad wants a full deluxe interior. looks like im gonna have to make a few calls.

I have considered this but I do not have a temple for any of the pieces and without that, I am worried that they will not look right. It can be done but it is much work. On the other hand, if you get the pieces and can do some tracing or drawings of the pieces I would not have a problem trying it my self. However, with out them it is just not worth it IMHO.

I hope that I dont have to spend all 2500 bucks that I have on my interior. I mean, ill be happy with a standard interior, but its my dad that wants a full 1967 deluxe interior! I mean, standard interior with Procar elites and a Lecarra leather steering wheel would look good right? (BTW it is my car lol)

I am making my own templates based on the wood grain inserts that are in there now. Shops want your money and make this out like it is a huge deal but it really isn't.

I have a ski boat and a few years ago, the eye on the bow where you connect the cable to winch the boat on the trailer was loose. There is this fiberglass bulk head and the nuts had actually dug through the glass in the bulkhead over the years and the eye was loose. There was no way to tighten the nuts anymore and there was a risk of the whole thing pulling through the bow. One shop wanted $3000 to open the front of the boat up and repair the bulk head with new fiberglass. Instead, we decided to purchase a block of 1/2 alum plate cut the same size as the bulk head, drill holes through it, and simply place over the bulk head. I found a store that sold scrap alum. The piece of alum was only $5 but they wanted $50 to cut it to fit. I cut it at home with a hacksaw in 5 minutes, drilled the holes, mounted it up, and was good to go. The area is actually stronger than it originally was and I did it for $5, not $3000.

There is a huge markup on this stuff. JME sells his instrument panels for 1969 mustangs for $1100. I bought the same gauges and what seems to be the same panel for a grand total of $722 in parts. I saved about $375 (and 6 months waiting time) by doing it myself. It ain't rocket science.

Buy a piece of thin alum and try to make it fit. Careful, patient sanding will get the edges you want. If it turns out like crap, then drop the coin and get the spendy stuff.

I called up mustangs unlimited...800 bucks for shipping and everything to complete the two doors! the aluminum insert is like 264 bucks! Looks like ill be ordering from them...cause they have everything i need.

John, I am confused by this post $800 for what? It can't be for the 2 doors. If your going to spend that kind of coin with MU, look at NPD. They are about the same price, but no shipping. Orders of $300 or more come with free shipping.
