Im so close to ordering a new interior, but prices are confusing me!

the price is the total of the parts needed to complete the two doors. I think the most expensive part of the 1967 deluxe interior is the doors, since they are the main focal point.

Jay is right on with this, and is just one of many examples that the UP cars are really nothing more than thrown-together bondo wagons designed to bilk big money from boneheads with too much of it. Also Mustang Depot's prices are no higher than anyone elses, plus look at his car, he is very much in tune with what works and what doesn't. Can you say that about all the other vendors?

No, but I do remember seeing them built on an episode of "Rides" a while back. The two things that stuck in my mind were the huge amounts of filler heaped onto these cars and the hodgepodge of interior parts, such as the '68 standard panels. I personally like the look of the Eleanor movie cars ( I even have a poster in my garage), but really dislike the idea of mass-producing clones and calling them real Shelbys. They are no more Shelbys than my clone, the difference being that I'm honest about what my car is, Unique Performance is not.

What gets to me is that if you look on the website, there is no mention anywhere of the car being based upon the GT500 from Gone In Sixty Seconds. Its like shelby is saying this is all his own idea and banking upon it, when actually chip foose was the original designer of the car for the movie.

exactly. too over priced for me. I bet I could make a clone exactly to thiers for less than half of what they charge. you know like 75 percent of the price they charge is like labor. And whn my dad saw how much bondo they used just to mold the kit in, his jaw dropped ( hes benn in autobody for like 40+ years, so he knows what hes looking for)

John, this all is very familiar with my situation as well. My 65 is here on Oahu, and buying parts for it and paying the shipping absolutely killed me. I just brought back a bunch of stuff from Mustangs Plus, and shipped some of it by Hawaii Air Cargo, and some I brought in my luggage (I just finished college in LA, and am staying there to work).

If it's possible, I would highly reccomend HAC, as they ship back and forth between Los Angeles and HI. I've found that sometimes its cheaper to UPS ground a shipment directly to them in LA, then ship it through them to Hawaii at 80 cents a pound (though sometimes by size). That way you can make use of the free shipping some stores have, while still getting a good deal on shipping. Your pricing may vary, but my father does have an account with them and that is their normal pricing for him.

My father is an auto upholsterer here in Hawaii as well, so if there's anything I can do to help you, please let me know.

Maybe to get this back on topic...

I am about to the point of getting the interior for my car (I am painting it this coming weekend) and I want the standard interior and I have seen MANY folks have the entire kit (dash, panels, clips, screws, upholstery,headliner, etc, etc...) and I wonder if anyone has done this route... if so, what was the quality of the entire kit, because I need everything, so I might as well use the kit price to my advantage.

The only thing I will not be using will be the front seat upholstery and maybe the kickpanels. I wanted the ones with the speaker cutouts, but I have heard nightmares about the fit of those...

Any opinions will be appreciated.
