Last week I became so obsessed with the idea of having a 2011+ Mustang that I put mine on craigslist. I put it up for almost $8000 because I knew no one would give that much for it but was willing to entertain offers. The thought of a better refined vehicle that has fresh paint, fresh interior, etc etc had me hooked compared to my 125k mile car that needs a new paint job and that I have so many $$$$s worth of plans for.
Well I took it off Craigslist today. I got this car for $5000, have probably put in over $3k so far into it and love it to death. Especially since I acquired a daily driver, now I can baby this. I wouldn't be scared of driving a 1965-1970 mustang with 300k miles, why should I be worried about this car with 125k...especially when my plans involve a complete engine build sometime in the far future.
Although it isn't as well refined as a new 'stang, I bet I could make it handle a lot better with far less money. It might be a harsher ride, but hell if I started modding a new mustang it would probably start having a harsher ride as well.
There are a ton of reasons why I should keep my current car and only about 1 for getting a new car...which is to simply have a new car; that has a payment, no blood and sweat in it from myself, and no personality. I feel like I need to keep my '99 forever and continue forth with my original modification plans. However, my brain likes to change its mind just about every other week in regards to this car. I hope I stick with my current plan though as this car has so much more meaning....
Would 125k on the odometer scare y'all off from your baby?
tl;dr - I got as close as I could to abandoning the '99 for a new model. I really hope I don't change my mind again because I love my car too much.

. Those look like they're gonna be some bad little cars and the MSRPs don't look so bad either.
