So im in the process of rebuilding my motor after an HCL swap.

My question is in regards to the oil pan and timing cover as to what gaskets I should replace first, keeping in mind that I am using the one piece oil pan gasket,. or does it not matter which one I do first ? Also should I prime the new oil pump ?

Thanks so much for any replies.

I would put the timing cover on first but I think it makes no difference. And yes you need to prime the new pump. In the 'old days' mechanics coated the gears in vaseline but you probably could just soak the pump in oil. Rotating the gears with the shaft to get the oil coated inside.
