Thanks guys for all the kind words.. im going home tonight with a buddy of mine, gunna work on my resume, get it up to date and post it on some different websites. Then im going to talk to my friend about his garage and get details from him on what he's looking for as an employee and possibly owning his garage one day. Your right tunedin, i have to look at it as one door closing and another one opening....

sbftech, what do i need to do to become ASE certified?

Head up man......You have zero to loose. I am not saying you have nothing but while you have little go out there and market yourself. Do what ever it takes. if you have to take a job that at the moment sucks but has potential for growth go for it.

3 years ago I was at a point in my life where you are. I needed to leave the place i was at, It was holding me back...but i was scared to leave. I was living at home with the rents and i said screw it. I applied for a job that i was not really qualified for but i BS'd my way into a second interview. They called my past employer who told them what a great guy i was with people and how i could do anything that was thrown at me blah blah blah. Well i got the job and am kicking A$$ and taking names now. Plus I am making twice what i was making then. So what i am saying is work your tail off, make good impressions and push yourself to get ahead of the game!

don't worry man...we'll get that resume straight tonight, have some beers, watch some football, and all will be OK!!

You're good at what you do, you've won awards, and you've got family ties at the company. I'm sure you'll be ok, and don't worry just yet!!!

I understand how you feel... I was laid off 3 months after my wife and I bought our home.

I am a Senior Art Director in St.L and I thought the same thing, but things always have a way of working out... I freelanced for a while and did alright then a few weeks later I landed somewhere.

No reason to be down... Just motivation to advance your career.

My dads not ASE certified and he gets business at his shop, but then again he has close to 30 years experience working on car starting at 13 and had the customer loyalty my grandpa started to build in the 1950s so he's ahead of the game.

Sell drugs...the legal kind

the word drug has such a negative connotation. I have found that the word pharmaceutical sounds much more professional.

My entire department was laid off yesterday. Thank goodness for plan B's!

Just remember - there are good years and bad years. 1 bad year requires at least 5 good years following.
