Inconsistent starting troubles on '93; please help.

I have a '93 LX 5.0L.

I am having starting issues, which about 70-90% of the time I crank the car, the starter just spins and tries to crank, sounding/feeling like a shutter everytime.

Where do I start checking? I am guessing a bad connection.

sounds like either the starter isn't completely engaging or you are missing some teeth on the fly wheel.

I agree. If the bendix isnt meshing with the ring gear, check your starter bolts (be sure they didnt back out). Otherwise, check the bendix and if ok, the ring-gear.

Your starter might simply be on the outs.....
