what exactly does a noid light set do?

does it check ohms, or whether or not it is opening and closing or what does it do?

a noid light plugs into the inj. harness at the inj. when the signal for the inj. to open goes to the inj. with the light it lights up.

so it pretty much just tells me when it is opening, rather than if it is opening or not?

Yes, the noid light tells you if you are getting power and ground to the injector, but not what is going on with the actual fuel delivery. There is key-on voltage to the injector that is constant; the computer controls the ground signal to the injector to control pulsewidth.

A cylinder balance test is about the best test I can think of to measure the injector flow with the injectors in the car.

Good luck.

Thats what the inj. ball. test is. A shop hookes them up and they can give alittle "tune up" kinda to them to flow ballance them and check for bad ones.

i think i read somewhere that someone used a lil 9V battery but that still wouldnt tell you if it was flowing the correct amount. just if it was working

I'm interested. I would like to take my inj(currently not installed) to the shop so they can check them out.

BlkSn is right on. If one hunts around, the cost to have injectors cleaned and flow tested can be quite reasonable.

Good luck.

Don't Laugh

I remember reading about some guy rig up a way to supply fuel and 12 volts to run them 10 seconds in a clear test container.

He then compared the spray pattern, and the amount of fuel in his test container for all eight inj's.

Now that I think about it, if you ran the test with oem pressure, I guess you could multiply the amount of fuel in the tank by 6 and it should be close the the inj's rating
