The mustang I bought has 24# injectors and a stock MAF and computer. I am concerened that the car might be running rich and i am thinking of swapping them for 19s. I don't have access to a computer tune, a new calibrated MAF would kill my budget and with just a heads/cam on a stock bottom end, I think the 19s should be ok. What do you guys think? I have a fellow who want to swap me 19s and a little cash for my 24s so i need some quick advice.

24's with a stock meter will make you run rich.

WHat are your mods? You probably don't need 24's now anyway?

How much cash is he giving you?

You can usually pick up 19's used for $10-20 and used 24's for $100. I'd say keep your 24's and just get some 19's for $10. They are cheap and plentiful in the classifieds and on ebay.

Your best bet is to somehow find the cash to get a MAF calibrated for 24# injectors. You can find them on ebay for about $125. The car will run extremely rich with 24# inj. If your not going to upgrade anything in the future then you will need the 19# units. Hope that helps.

The car has edelbrock heads (not sure on the specs), a b cam, trick flow manifold with the stock bottom end and that's really about it. I have no plans to put more power into the car as i like it just how it is now.

You definately need to move up to the 24's and a properly calibrated Maf for those mods to really run properly..make the most out of your combo. My car will have probably AFR's or ported EDDy's with the F cam and have been told to save for the Pro-m 75 meter calibrated to 24 pound injectors and the injectors to keep the fuel curve correct for the mods mentioned. A poor fuel curve can really suck the life out of a good combo.

My concern is that the computer is not flashed for the 24s... i can scrape up the cash for a pro m calibrated for 24s but will that be enough?

If you get a MAF properly calibrated to the 24# inj, then it should be fine. Thats exactly what I run on the stock computer. The MAF is actually "fooling" the computer, but unless you get into more expensive solutions, this is the easiest way to run bigger inj. Note: i am running the stock FPR. Trick flow said it would be fine as long as I still had the stock cam. I could probably benifit from an AFPR and a dyno tune, but it;s a daily driver and it runs great. Oh, just be absolutly certian you actually have 24# inh...is someone telling you this, or do you know for a fact?

i recently put 24lb inj. in my car with a stock maf and it sucks bigtime.the only reason i did was because a couple of my inj. had bit the dust.i fixed 1 problem and caused another.i'm not even going to drive my car until i get a 75mm pro-m.i do think you'll probably be ok with the stock computer just get an upgraded maf.

Computer will not be an issue what so ever...it will run fine, keep your FP at about 40 vac off (you can try lower) and play with your timing. The computers have no problems with much more aggressive set ups than yours and work for many on here, but remember if you get the chance to dyno tune it will really make the most of all the items together. I will probably not have the option for a tune but will be looking at the Pro-m with 24's with my stock air box. I really think the stock box is perfect for flow as it is a CAI in itself.

Yah i'm running the stock air box, in fact i just bought a new stock air box from ebay to replace my worn out one. I just don't like CAI style intakes. I do not have an adjustable FPR but I will pick one up soon enough and I'll try a pro-m. Car runs well, i'm just a worry wort and I do think it's running rich though that's better than lean i suppose. A dyno tune would be nice and I think there's a place near me... just a matter of coming up with more bucks and being newly married and not having much dough, it's tough sometimes. Plus, the car needs new shocks, i want to redo the 4-lug brakes, it needs a stereo... always something. :rlaugh: Thanks for all the help bros...
