Hey guys, have a chance to get a smoking deal on this Federal Mogul (Speed Pro) cam. Here's the specs:

Advertised duration: 289 intake/289 exhaust
Duration at .050 in. cam lift: 212 intake/222 exhaust
Gross valve lift: .493 in. intake/.510 exhaust
Lobe separation: 112 degrees
Peak horsepower rpm: 5,500
Peak torque rpm: 2,500
Power range 2000-5500 - Good idle

Seems like a close match to the E-303.

Would be run with ported heads (E7's) and either a ported stock or typhoon intake. Car is a 5 speed with 3.90 gears.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Derek

Not really a guru on cams, but I just installed an E-303 cam in my notch and I love it. Nice lopy idle. I also installed heads and intake at the same time. I can tell a big difference in my car and my buddies car since my mods. Before mods, our cars had the same setup. Hope this helps

That cam has more advertised duration than the B or F cams......but less at .050 lift.....are you sure the specs are right?

I'm pretty sure they're right. They match up to the specs on the federal mogul website.

The part number is CS1959R

its actually pretty decent but it usually cost more than the others is why nobody much uses it , if you get it under 139 bucks go for it , other wise the trickflow stage one which is 139 from summit is about as good as it gets IMO and I am running B cam and wish I had saved a few bucks and gotten the trickflow

As good as it gets is a pretty bold statement. A custom cam is as good as it gets in my opinion, but they're also a lot of money. For off the shelf cams I'd say the Comp Cams Extreme Engergy cams are some of the best out there.

I like the Comp Cams Extreme series as well, can never really seem to find a good price on them though.

Yeah, my stage 1 trickflow is no better than my B303, however I never got a retune after install. Custom grind is the way to go from others experience. Federal Mogul or Speed Pro is not of the best quality, I used to sell them when I managed an auto parts store. They are more of a stock upgrade, not a performance, race-reliable component. I would suggest something from a big brand name like comp, crane, fms, or anderson. When quality is questionable, spend a little more money.
