Instability issues

Today while driving my 5.0 on the highway, I noticed when I accelerated, the rear end seemed to pull slightly to the left. Later while driving on the street, I was cruising at around 40-45 mph in 3rd, took my hands off of the wheel and goosed it a little and it definitely pulled to the left. Any suggestions as what to look for once I crawl my a$$ under my pony?

uneven tire wear on the front...you might need to get a front end alignment or at least get it checked.after getting it checked a good front end man can tell you if you have any serious problems....

The first thing I'd do is check the air pressure. Is it at your usual pressure? Did the car suddenly start doing this?

If the pressures are fine then check the right rear bushings. There are 4 of them and you need to check them all for wear. While you're looking at the bushings look at the mounting points, both on the rear and the body.

Is the car doing anything odd when you decellerate using the engine only? Is it pulling to the right then?

Thanks for the responses. Yes, it just started doing it today and no it doesn't pull to the right when I decelerate. I'll give the tires a good check in the morning. Thanks again.

I've seen this a few times on 5.0s and am surprised someone else hasn't already responded about it.

Get down and do a thorough check of the vicinity of your torque boxes. For the entire rear end to flex like it must to affect the steering during acceleration only, the problem lies somewhere in the mounting points between the rear and the frame/unibody.

Beat me to it.
When my car had similar syntoms, it was the torque boxes all torn up.
Pray for your sake that's not the issue.

Take a close look at all your control arm bushings especially the uppers they wil cause your car to dive under acceleration. I am gonna put my money on the rubber housing bushings.
